My cat, Bob, got me through my divorce. I’ve had many cats before and after him, but he was the cat I loved the most and he was the cat that loved me the most. Friends would come to hang out and would tell me when Bob looked at me you could see the love in his eyes. Every time I came home he would be sitting at the door waiting for me. I’d pick him up and he’d hug me and give me two tiny dry kisses on my cheek. When I die my sons said they would throw my mom’s and Bob’s ashes in the hole with my ashes when they planted my favorite tree (a mimosa tree; it looks like something Dr. Seuss drew in a book) with all our ashes

I know exactly what you're saying mate, three of my cats died of old age or age related illness, they were so much more than pets to me, they were only ones who were always there no matter how bad things got, no matter my mood or level of happiness, they were always happy to see me, people don't understand how important it is to feel that, like Russell I kept holding on too long with a couple of them, I wasn't ready to let go of that part of my life and in doing so I was being selfish, I should have cared more for their suffering than my own sense of loss, I'll never make the same mistake again but I'll never be able to fill the void they left, I'll just have to work out a way to live with it.

We sometimes need to reach the depths of despair before we can evolve. Russell has fought his demons and I truly believe he has learnt so much about himself and others. He’s eloquent, intelligent and has so much wisdom. I could listen to him for hours.

This just reinforces my belief that the forces of evil are trying to take him down. May God protect him.
