Scott, I wrote a chapter in a book published in 1978 about how nuclear war is portrayed in films. The book is "Nuclear War Films", edited by a professor of mine at Southern Illinois University, the late Dr. Jack Shaheen. I wrote a chapter on the film "Fail Safe." At one point in the story, the Soviet Premier and the American President are lamenting about the dire situation. One said, "Really, no one is to blame." And the other agreed. I was infuriated by that line. I fear that if the worst happens, that very lame excuse will be used. But nuclear weapons didn't invent themselves. We did. And human decisions WILL be to blame. So, with apologies to Shakespeare, I will paraphrase him and say, "The fault, dear friends, is not in our missiles, but in ourselves."
@Daniela-s6r

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 brilliant comment! Indeed we have no one but to blame but ourselves. And may be the devil? People say "there's nothing we can do about our gov". Not alone no. But by the millions and/or billions?! There would be absolutely NOTHING they could do to stop us. They would abandon their mansions faster than people evacuate before Wilton arrived. We as a society raised these monsters. We pay for everything for them by continuing to pay taxes we're illegally being charged. We also raised all the security minions that stand NOT to protect us from tyrannical gov's but instead to force us to accept being oppressed. I hate minions. Soldiers, teachers, doctors, police officers, school board members, etc etc etc... Bunch of fucking minions!!!!! And voters think some new prez is the answer every 4 years. And I hate to say it but so called Christians support genocide. So called liberals support censorship. It's a fucking shit show!!!!!!

Not sure what you mean by this other than delivery by aircraft gives you an opportunity for defense missile system to target for a much longer window. There would be no option, do or die : ).

It depends on what is actually attacked in Russia. If nuclear deterrence infrastructure is hit (early warning radars, nuclear silos or nuclear subs/bombers, strategic command posts) it may trigger full scale nuclear strike. Not due to anger but as strike on nuclear deterrence is may easily be a first step of full scale nuclear attack by the west

Just to add regarding the Annie Jacobson book - it is also on Audible. I’m just starting it and it is truly both eye opening and terrifying. I never thought much about nuclear war/weapons because it just seemed too unreal. This book makes it real. It’s still hard to believe anyone would use these - it would be suicidal - what would be left to win for the “winner”? But that is counting on rational leaders with rational thinking skills - I’m not sure we have that anymore.

The worst thing about all of this is that most of the attacks had no interest in the history that happened during WW1 and WW2. Plain and simple, both of these wars have not actually been forgotten for the simple reason that the West was not satisfied that these wars for the West were temporarily stopped. And the proof of this is the fact that as soon as Russia accepted that Germany was united, the Nazis in Yugoslavia who had been waiting all the time like they were in the Ukraine, and then what happened, Yugoslavia had borders drawn by the Communists at the behest of England to be put in power by the British, and all those borders were drawn regardless of who was living in those territories at the time. exactly the same as in Russia, of course, the people did not think about these borders for the simple reason that it was the only country . At that time, no one could have imagined that anyone in the world in the 90s would support Nazism, but that is exactly what happened in the 90s in Yugoslavia, it was a kind of experiment that was to be used against Russia, and unfortunately it worked in Yugoslavia and only with the help of the media. all Serbs were expelled from Croatia without anyone in the world reacting, all under Nazi flags and now that Croatia is an internationally recognized state, any attempt to return Serbia He would have been condemned by the West as an attack on an independent state, regardless of how it became independent, and this happened only a few 30 years ago, regardless of the fact that it violated the condition of Yugoslavia!! Well, this is exactly the same case with Ukraine today, we all know very well that Ukraine was only one of the regions of Russia, but when the West offered Russia the final reconciliation that the whole world had been waiting for since WW2, Russia made some concessions as a sign of goodwill, which the West immediately used against her, and today everyone is pretending to be silly?!? Most do not even know what was agreed at that time, and those who know very cunningly use legal phrases such as that Russia attacked an independent state, and on the other hand, the West took Kosovo from Serbia without education and declare it as a special case, and in fact Russia uses everything that the West introduced as the rules of the 90s and thus caused damage to many countries. Fortunately, Russia is not Serbia is the largest nuclear power and will certainly not allow anyone to play with its fate, which some people from the West have started to do with the whole world, and that is why so many countries are ready to enter the BRICS today.
