Westerlund's reaction to Lehterä's "interference" call (the one which led to Russia's first goal) was a big smile. I think he realized right away what was happening, and that his team had no chance of getting a fair chance to win.

Okay here's the thing... We're not whining because we lost the game. (In fact I'm incredibly proud of our team for making it that far with that many first-timers.) We're complaining because we weren't given a slightest change and a game as important as that deserves proper referees and fair play. It was disrespectful for the game and that, my dear friends and haters, makes me furious. NOT the fact that we didn't win. And also... I'm not saying that every single Russian is an asshole and a cheater, I'm just saying that the people responsible for this are.

For those Einsteins who keep saying that Russia had better players than Finland let me tell you this. Not once in the history of ice hockey, did Finland win a single game in finals or semi-finals because Finland had better individual players. Finland has always won with players who play well together, not by putting 5 NHL stars in the same team who fight each other for the possession of the puck. Whenever Finland won, it was because the team was better, not because they had better players. The reason why people (not only finnish but pretty much everyone else who wasn't russian) are mad about this match, is not because Russia won the game. It's because the referees saw Putin in the stands and made sure that Finland doesn't stand a fucking chance in the match. The actions of the players was with one word rediculous, and more than once they were very close to ending people's careers. If you disagree, watch the whole match and this time keep at least one eye open.

@MsYebou

Yes, this is totally my bad. Shipatsov tackled Jormakka in their earlier game which was played 1 week before this final. Jormakka got tackled again really bad in this final by Denis Denisov. I was supposed to post that Denisov tackle video, instead of this Shipatsov, but i accidently took the wrong video (i made a correction in a Finnish version of this video). Anyway, Jormakka got tackled in this final game by this another Russian player, Denis Denisov, and got concussion, and he had to quit the game in last round. So the outcome was same, even tho video isn't. Russian player Denis Denisov tackled violently in this final, Finnish player Jormakka got injuries and had to quit - no penalty for Russia ("referees didnt see anything in this time", like they didn't in that last game neither..)
@DOssiX

@MickJupiter

Luiz Henrique You seem to be bending the truth quite a bit. Denisov's hit in the final was clean. And Jormakka did not receive a concussion from that hit, instead it was an upper torso injury. You also "forgot" to mention that Shipatshov received a three-game suspension (which was too much IMO) afterwards for his hit in the first game, so he _was_ penalized for that. And BTW, I'm Finnish. The referees in the final game and throughout the tournament sucked and they always have in IIHF tournaments, but you should still stick with the facts.

@TheJeremyxxx
10 жыл бұрын
With the clearly corrupted referee work and the rule-breaking acts of the the Russian head-coach, it seems very possible - if not even likely - that the following foul-play also took place: At one point, two Finns were in the penalty box. In reality, the other Finn's penalty had just ended - a second before - (or so it seemed at least) when Russia scored. However, the time-recording system was altered to show the goal to have happened a second earlier than it actually did, to make it seem as if neither one of the penalties was yet over, one having 41 seconds left and the other having exactly one second left. Because of the Russian goal, the Finn with one second of penalty left was now released from the penalty box. However, the other Finn still had to stay in the penalty box, whereas with fair play HE should now have been released.

@IIHF I'm a Finn and I wouldn't mind losing all the games against Russia or any country with legitimate game-play. You can even skip the justified argumentation over this final game and give this thought a moment; what are the sports about? The main goal isn't to prove which team is better by winning the game. It's about proving which team is better by playing better. In addition there's also the fact people lose interest watching/playing ice hockey knowing it no longer isn't about the actual sport. #banthecorruption

Hey, I know, maybe Znarok is a psychic and can communicate via "spirits" or some shit like that. Then it wouldn't be counted as physical. Microphones and earplugs are operated via laws of physics, so they are considered physical.

Do you even understand hockey rules? There were two players in finnish penalty box, dummy. Malkin scored while Immonen still had one second left of his penalty and your video actually proves that (it also says 5 on 3 powerplay). Penalty time and game time are not synced. Immonen gets out of the penalty box and the second player, Kontiola, is still in the penalty box with about 30 seconds left.

Finns you are overreacting a little bit. 0:10 Haula vs Malkin: Haula went against Malkin, Malkin only reflexively lifted hands to protect himself and because Malkin is higher he hit Haula in head. Player is responsible of his stick but Haula incurred this by himself. 2:56: Penalty called properly: Work with stick, short slashing and hooking of Finnish player caused rotation and fall of Russian player. 4:10: Znarok vs Grönberg: Znarok was "giving death treat" because Grönberg started yelling some abuse on him in English. Znarok cannot speak English so he did what he did. Walkie-talkie was not forbidden by any rule.

+002o Haula vs Malkin? Do you even watch ice hockey? That's not a common reaction to grab your hockey stick with two hand to THAT HEIGHT after passing.. "Penalty called properly:" That was really minor "work with stick" the reason they gave the penalty was that he tripped and that wasn't becouse of the "work with stick".. "Znarok vs Grönberg:" Walkie-talkies are forbidden. It was stated during the match, and after.

0:10 stick to the face is against the rules 2:56 if russia got punished for all the times russians did that they would have had 3 players 24 7 refs were blind 4:10 there is a rule that says that you are not allowed to have any contact to you team so that walkie-talkie shits was illegal and against the rules

Why does everyone hate finns? We haven't been cheating in international sports games, we haven't started a war against you, and know what? You guys don't know anything of being a finn. Everyone hates us for no reason. Most of you are US and Russian, and know what? You are acting big by the name of your country. We finns are here with your own names, taking the responsibilities about what we say on our own. Not that I would hate US, german or russian people, I appreciate some of you a lot, but after these comments my appreciation has vanished. AND NO ONE IS GOING TO COMMENT ON MY SPELLING.
