The decision to ban Russia from Eurovision is the right one. This video is in no way implying they should be allowed to return, only acknowledging that they once did compete and these were their songs. The acts are ranked based on the songs and performances, without taking into account the artists’ political views.
Comments:
1. This is a pop masterclass. It’s like it was created in some lab. So catchy, so dramatic, so well performed, one of my favorite stagings ever. The part where he “floats” is insane. Everybody says they copied Måns but I think this is a very different concept.
2. This is such a great, catchy song. I’d say he should’ve won if it weren’t for Lordi being there the same year. And this staging… He’s the undeniable king of extra stagings. Insane. I love it so much.
3. People like to hate on this one, but I think it’s great. It’s a solid pop song sung well, and I love how incredibly cheesy and Eurovision-y this performance is. Probably one of the most extra stagings ever, amplified tenfold because it’s done to such a serious song. Love it.
4. I’ve always loved this. It’s just such a good, simple, catchy pop song.
5. And here’s one of those carefully curated, polished “peace and love” messages. But the song’s great. I remember loving it as a kid. Her voice is great too.
6. This is just a great, interesting pop song. I love their harmonies.
7. This is so beautiful. I’m glad it got to be the last Russian Eurovision entry. A glimmer of hope. Unlike the carefully curated, polished “peace and love” messages of previous Russian entries, this felt like something Manizha was saying with her whole heart.
8. This is so fun, catchy and unique. Their voices are unique too.
9. It’s the weaker of his entries, but still great. So dramatic. His vocals are amazing, of course, and the staging is so cool.
10. This is iconic. So unique. They are adorable and their outfits are gorgeous. I always love hearing a minority language at Eurovision. The Udmurt lyrics are so adorable and happy. And the melodies outside the chorus are actually beautiful.
11. Now this one definitely has emotion. I don’t even know what she’s singing about but I’m feeling it. Her vocals are great. I remember watching this as a kid and wondering why the mic wasn’t in front of her face in the projections.
12. Now the audacity of sending this when it was cannot be overlooked. It’s forever tainted my enjoyment of the song. And beside that, it’s not even that great to begin with. Quite basic melody and instrumentation, super basic peace lyrics with no depth. It’s good, but not great enough to get second place. Her vocals are great, though.
13. This is such a guilty pleasure. It’s so catchy and happy. I like the harmonies.
14. This is actually better than I remembered. It’s very catchy and she sings it well enough.
15. This is so weird but it just works. His unique voice matches the song so well and I can’t stop looking at his expressions.
16. It’s unique and his voice is great. I wouldn’t listen to it, but I respect it. I really love the snow in the staging.
17. It’s very, very basic and the instrumentation is very, very uninteresting, but I like the happy boyband vibe in the performance.
18. His voice is great and so is the instrumentation, but I find the song very forgettable.
19. The melody and instrumentation are nice, but I’m not a big fan of her voice.
20. I’ve never been a fan of “one word or short phrase repeated very slowly to make up the whole chorus” -choruses. Other than that, the song is fine. Pretty basic, but fine. The vocals sound very off though.
21. It’s a pleasant little tune, but a bit forgettable.
22. It would be a fine song, although quite repetitive, if their voices didn’t sound so incredibly off. The lyrics are good, though.
23. This is quite forgettable. Her voice is good but the way the melody goes on “hurt no one” just makes it sound unflattering.
24. Unpopular opinion: I never got the hype for this one. I don’t love the melody, the instrumentation, the lyrics or their voices.
25. This song feels messy and unfinished to me.
