Russia’s Defense Ministry recently published a proposal to revise Moscow’s maritime border in the eastern Baltic Sea, saying that the lines drawn in 1985 had used mid-20th century nautical charts that did not correspond to modern cartographical coordinates.
Estonia’s Foreign Minister described Moscow’s border move as a deliberate provocation designed to destabilize an area it once regarded as its own. The move was straight out of the Kremlin playbook - sow the seeds of uncertainty to confuse and confound Moscow’s foes.
The development has caused great concern in the EU and NATO. As Moscow looks to exploit escalating tensions with the West, there may well be more Kremlin campaigns ahead designed to confuse its neighbors.
What does Russia want to achieve? Is it a reason to worry? To learn the answers to these questions and more, join Jan Darasz and his guest Jarosław Gryz from the War Studies University on this episode of 'How We Got Here'.
