Story:
"March of the Life Guards of the Preobrazhensky Regiment" is one of the oldest and most famous Russian military marches. According to the generally accepted view, the march was written between 1691 and 1716 by an unknown composer. Initially, the march had no words. The first official text was compiled by the Russian officer and playwright Sergei Marin in 1805. The most common version of "The Turks know us and the Swedes" appeared in the middle of the 19th century. Author unknown. The march immediately became common to the entire Russian army and was played in all military campaigns and parades. After the February Revolution, it was sung as an anthem instead of "God save the Tsar!". Abolished since October 1917.
Lyrics:
The Turks and the Swedes know us,
And the world knows about us.
For battles, for victories
The Tsar himself always leads us!
He shares the work with us,
He is in front of us in battles,
Each of us considers happiness
Die in His eyes.
Our grandfathers were glorious
Both the Swede and the Lyakh remember them.
They were hovered by an eagle of victory
On Poltava in the fields.
The banner of their regiment captivates
The Russian bayonet is our combat one.
He also reminds us
How grandfathers went to battle.
Our trihedral bayonet is still solid,
The voice of honor did not stop.
So we will go forward, glorious,
The very first Russian regiment.
From Peter to Nicholas
Our regiment has always been faithful.
In the battlefield, not shy,
We always serve with the breast.
Deleted are transformed,
We are glad to entertain the Tsar,
And, funny past,
Glorious! Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!
