Yep, once the phones go, you know it gets serious and I rather run home with my tail between my legs than do this! I think as many men started doing this, they resorted to just forcing them to go through with this or be shot. An old Russian tactic, your commander is basically right behind you with a pistol to your head: you either die by the country you obey to kill or you die by your commander.

This man did the very thing many Russian soldiers are afraid to do for the safety of their own families. When people from the outside ask "if the economy is tanking, why aren't the people revolting?" and get the response of that the revolt would be crushed with an iron fist and the families of the revolters would be under danger, is the same reason why many russian soldiers who want to quit, don't. I respect this man, for this is true bravery (reminds me of that one picture from WW2, where a crowd was giving the n@zi solute, but one man wasn't); change begins with one man. I pray for his and his family's safety and this man is prime example of God always giving one a choice.

under the rule of autocratic regimes like Russia, military service memebers don't get the privilege to write down letters of resignation themselves, a military service member sends a request for it that's all, the military administration makes letters of resignations in favor of the regime, in other words the military administration makes sure to distort the main reasons that made a service member seek resignation, in case of this Russian military officer who is against the war in Ukraine, the military adminstration won't mention it " antiwar " in his letter of resignation, they will write down he failed to adapt with military life, he failed to live up to the spirit of military life ...period!
