Putting the edit at the top because for some reason people have decided they can add the Alexandria library of knowledge to the conversation if they type "cap,", or "fake," in the replies. To everyone typing that, yes, this is a completely fake story, I'm not allowed to have an experience relating to a video literally about code raiding. It's so weird for people to afk in their bases and leave the game running in the background, oh the woah is mine, that I'd be petty enough to lie in KZitem comments about quite a common form of raiding pre code nerf. How the world has been restored from your pointing out a random on the internet dares share an experience off nothing but eye witness, how dare they not make a video about how they input a different code into every door, and show the exact SECOND the code raiding starts while they were doing other shit on their computer. Truly an awful human being am I. I was sitting in my base eating lunch when I heard three people start code raiding me. I had nothing better to do so I just left the game open while I played some other things and listened to these guys for three, hours. I had to say, I was impressed by their tenacity. I took a break for a couple hours to play something else without the repetitive beeping and decided to get back onto Rust and sus out what was going on. @@oblivion_2852 that would increase chances a bit up to a certain point, after that all the more "common" codes are just the ones that have been picked more often, by chance 1/10000. Really is just an odds game. If you average 1 code every 5 seconds it would be, 10000 x 5 = 50000 seconds, 50000 seconds = 13.8 hours, maximum time for one person to type every code. You could have 5 people typing codes, which would divide the time by 5, however you could just have 5 different codes. I dunno there is definitely better maths to it than that I'm not a statistical expert, but the point is its a game of chance and can be an utter waste of time haha.

And this is a good example of why you should never use the same password for everything. Once one is guessed, that is all it takes to lose everything. Always use different codes for each door/account and etc. That way even if they get lucky on one, they have to get the next one as well.

An effective strategy would be to have three diffrent codes. At random around the base. Which means that if you're a part of the base and the first code doesn't work than try one of the other two. It's not too hard to remember but it will HUGELY defend against this type of attack, because that would tripple the amount of time to crack the code[s].

from someone that has worked with cyber security i can guarantee you that you can approach this in a very different and more efficient way lets suppose you still have 4 ppl you can assing someone to go from the most used down to least used another one to start at the least useds and go up to the most useds and the other two you get them to start at the middle of the list one going from mid to most and another going from mid to least OR even better, divide the whole list into 2 and apply the above the each half at a time, or even divide each half into halfs and apply the same for each parte going one part at a time, in computer science we call it divide and conquer algorithms, its just way too OP for doing things like this with 4 people thats the strategy of using codes that will lead you with the best possible average of time spent to open a door

@@emlynselene1096 Yea, anybody in teh world could in theory do that and then all codes would appear with a perfect 1 to 10,000 ratio. But people DONT do that. People are simple and lazy. That is why some codes are more or less common to begin with. Even if there is a chance someone picks a code from the less likely section, are you are still more likely to guess their number sooner by using that list than by doing some other method. I remember being in imPheetus' chat about 6 months ago talking about doing a code raid zerg with 100 people trying 100 codes each and doing the math on it and figuring out each person would need like 5 bags each in the area so they could put in 5 codes per life and respawn once per minute, fitting in with the 5 minute bag timer so always one bag becoming available (unless we had a dedicated pumpkin farmer to bring food for an extra code attempt per life) . He ended up getting a zerg together and doing it but didnt have the right numbers, and although it devolved into just rocking/spearing doors, the idea was there and fun was had. :) Youve revolutionized this idea with the spreadsheet to keep track of what numbers were used and the list of most used/least used to narrow it down somewhat. Absolutely brilliant. Much respect! *This will surely give rise to a new code lock meta; having different codes for different parts of the base (TC code, front door code, loot room codes, auxilliary door codes, etc)*
