an ax is an axe, you can have fun with scrap. But the process of making wood for it is fascinating. Incredibly cool idea.

Does anybody know why the rust removal come before sandblasting? Couldn't the rust be removed through sandblasting as well?

Hello. I guess sandblasting seems to be be expensive. So it is more cost effective to remove rust before sandblasting.

That was an excellent restoration but I'll pass on the chance of using it. A layered handle looks great but I've had too many of them break apart into splinters. Just from using it to chop with. Fine looking design, but I would have put some dowel rod in as pins to secure it more in case it starts to crack. That'll make it so it won't break as easy as just layering it like plywood.

If you are a carpenter, you should know that because the wood is stuck together with wood glue, it will not be separated in any way.

@@HowToRestoration stuck together with wood glue doesn't mean it'll hold under pressure, if hit hard enough, it'll break apart.
