I can relate to what u r saying. When i was 7 that ost got me really sad too, whem i was 14 studing music and guitar i got to know about how chords can be used to create emotions, such as the feeling of power with major/powe chords and the feeling of sadness/sorrow with minor chords and other irregular intervals of notes.

It's because Richard Jacques composed it, he had a different style compared to Jun Senoue who was behind the Genesis version.

Not only do I listen to this in the rain, I make it an effort to listen to this track whenever it rains. I can remember how beautiful it was: the rain, the thunder and the flashes of lightning all while this music played on. God bless you Richard Jacques.

I used to listen to this almost every morning when I got up to get ready to go to school. For some reason, this song just seemed to fit with the still dark blue skies of early morning, especially if it was kind of cloudy too. Got nostalgic as I'm sitting here in the car parking lot and decided to listen to it on a rainy, dark blue early morning. Still a classic.

A lot of legacy game franchises, your Mega Mans and Zeldas and Castlevanias and Fantasies Final, have rich musical legacies. I don't think any of them have one as versatile as Sonic. This was only two years after Sonic 3 and two years before Sonic Adventure. None of those soundtracks sound like each other and they all sound incredible.

And all these franchises are in Super Smash Bros. it's amazing to think about to me. Like I probably would've never cared to step out and listen to the music from those series unless Smash gave me a taste of what they had to offer. I grew up with Sonic so I've been listening to the music for a long time. Heck if I hear a song, I can almost instantly tell you which game it's from, but I haven't even heard every Sonic song. Like I've never heard the songs on this soundtrack. I know the Genesis one, but I've only heard bits and pieces of the the Saturn version, and oh man am I loving it

When I was young couldn't afford games myself, I remember finding sonic 3d blast on sale for dirt cheap on pc. I had a Windows 98 and played w the keyboard. For a sonic game that was tough. This track is the one I remember the most from those days. Beautiful, thank you!

@@jailbirdjenna If you still have the disc you can pop it in any CD player and it should actually play the music, Track 1 is the game, but 2 and on should be the soundtrack. This works with a lot of old games that kept their music as uncompressed audio on the CD, give it a try sometime!

A lot of people say this song was inspired by Enigma's Sadeness, but that's not 100% the full story. It was actually more likely to have been inspired by an SY99 Factory Demo track titled 'Gregorian' which uses the same vocal chants used in this song too. Said SY99 Factory Demo was very inspired by Enigma's Sadeness itself, which is why this song also sounds like it.

Ayo now I HAVE to listen to that song, cuz I've heard Enigma's Sadness and other New Age bands and when I found out sonic, Streets of rage and countless other games have inspiration from such and the genre it blew my mind PD: The Streets of Rage theme has Clear inspiration from Enigma's Sadness the similarities are there

Music of Saturn version of RRZ has different atmosphere than in Genesis version. While Genesis music on Act 1 had wibe of exploration, Saturn version provides beauty of this place and also provides beauty to nature, which Sonic fights for.

It's amazing how much the Saturn soundtrack improves the game. The Genesis soundtrack is pretty good but I really enjoy the Saturn OST for 3D Blast. Great tune to listen to on a rainy day.

I love how it goes immediately from happy, carefree, bright and green to Broken, rainy, dreary ruins in just the first two levels. It's like the first level is Sonic discovering this awesome new place. But by Rusty Ruins he's concerned for the flickies. He's getting madder at Eggman, and he understands that he needs to get serious.

It was a huge treat in hindsight to get bits of the Genesis soundtrack in Sonic Adventure, and by extension give it wider recognition, but I wish the Saturn soundtrack got the same. It's probably hard to imagine these days, but redbook audio was probably a shot in the arm for immersion with 2D games. Playing games like Mario 3, Zelda, Mega Man are great all around, but you encounter a game like Sonic CD or this game, and the soundtrack alone elevates the experience to something truly special.

I'm telling you, the soundtrack of the Saturn version is why I'm sticking with this one over the Genesis one. Don't get me wrong, the Genesis version has some alright tracks, but I find half of the soundtrack to be forgettable. This on the other hand, pure perfection.
