Amtrak and Trains go through too. Just below the 101 Freeway. We Would hear them late at night on the Rincon. But we could just listen without a care. The Sound of the Waves made it so Relaxing. Best Memories being with My Grandparents. My last trip was Summer 2005. I wish I had more years. But my Grandpa was 84 from the last trip.

Main Street Ventura has both high end shops and restaurants and also thrift stores, little food shacks, a museum, a mission, and lots of homeless in the area. We stay at the Howard Johnson’s, an older but well maintained motel. Homes are expensive. Most people I’ve met are friendly. It’s a nice weekend get away for the Angelenos with lots to do on the surrounding area. Prices will vary.

At 3:39 the stretch is called RINCON Parkway (not "RYE-CON"). Rincon is a world-famous surfing spot.

Born and raised in California....camped in all of those places you visited. Where else can you camp right on the beach. Never hot, always cool. We lived in the high desert....when we would get close to the ocean and feel that first cool breeze we were excited. Mostly camped at Emma Wood. At low tide my kids learned so much in the tide pools. Fun fun fun. Ventura has a great Fair, a 5 mile bike trail. Nothing prettier than the Pacific. Try highway 1 sometime.....spectacular beauty. BTW the best weather is in the winter. Always sunny....fog mostly in the summer time. Nomadic Fanatic has had a hard time finding places to boondock. Also Ojai had some good camping. It has become very new age, artsy and used to be hippies and drugs.....but pretty. Made me homesick. Now live in St Louis, MO

Hi Russ, thanks for another good video. You are right, the video doesn't do the giant fig tree justice. I like that you held the camera on the fig tree sign for a bit so we had time to read it. There used to be a giant fig tree that sort of had its own zip code. Its where the mail would get delivered for the homeless people in Santa Barbara. That was in the 1980's; I don't know if they are still doing that.

We RV'ed for 35 years while living 30 minutes away from the Rincon (BTW, rhymes with TIN-con) Absolutely one of our most favorite places to camp. Thanks for the video!

Russ... I want to tell you about the Ventura RV Park on Main St. We made a reservation with them.. they required us to pay 120.00 for a deposit.. 2 days later we called to cancel.. ( Our reservation date was made a month in advance ) They said.. No Refunds ! We can change your date but, you don't get your deposit back … This is the first EVER that refused to return our money .. I don't mind losing 20.00 dollars for processing.. but, to Lose 120.00 was very mean …. We felt like they stole our money !! In fact we told them that … Now.. I would never want to stay there... !!!! And, I will tell everyone .. Watch out ! They're Crooks !!!! and, yes you're right.. they are rude ! and Crude !

@@bruceh3786 not surprised! They also charged us 5 dollars per day for each of our dogs.( tiny dogs) we have 3, so 15.00 per day extra x 3 days,, an extra 45.00 dollars. For what ? We tend to our dogs,, they don't,!

My feeling on CA is if you live there then they put up with you, but if your a tourist they wish you'd leave soon as possible. I never found the state to be friendly.

That RV park had a very deteriorated flag it should have been replaced a long time ago.

Contact the local American Legion. They take battered Flags and retire them in private and with all proper honors. Thank You for having the same respect as myself.
