We double towed upto Jan 2024 when we got our toyhauler. Prior i towed a 34' 5er with a 5x10 utility flatbed with an 850# G22 Golf cart. Every year for over 12 yrs ran mostly east coast and as far west as TN. The rear trailer being narrower than the 5er it tracks inside of the 5er's tracks so there is no worries as far as clipping curbs. I did have a rear camera that allowed me to see the cart and straps. Never had a near miss, or an oops whatsoever. I think it scares people due to their comfort level or experience with towing in general, nevermind double towing. One tip: Put a hitch and ball on the rear of your golf cart. For example, when we would arrive at Fort Wilderness i would unhook the little flatbed after unloading the golf cart, then hook the trailer to the golf cart for my wife or son to drive to the campsite. We would put the flatbed in the back of the campsite then back in the 5er. This secures the little trailer and gets it out of the way for backing in the 5er.

I have double towed safely for over 25 years. I always use the "1/3 rule" for double towing behind a 5th wheel only.. Never tow anything more than 1/3 the length of 5th wheel trailer or legal max total length. Do not exceed 1/3 the weight of the 5th wheel (with trailer) or max rating of rear hitch. I also added friction sway control on rear trailer and brakes on every axle. I also have TPMS on all wheels! TPMS has saved me many times! I also NEVER go over speed limit and most the time 5 MPH less when double towing.

My wife puts up with a lot, lol. She's nervous enough just towing the camper and when I double she borderline freaks, not at me but at the idiots out there with no etiquette towards a big load, much like truck drivers get p'd off at idiots who do the same.

been towing trailers for 30 years, no desire to ever double tow. my toyhauler at 46' is almost at max length anyway and we bought our toyhauler for its layout and its ability to carry our dirt bikes, its one of the few that has actual living area.

I've doubled towed for a long time. A class A a pickup then my trailer with a motorcycle. Just take your time. And pay attention to the road.

Something that anyone that tows double should consider is the extra stress (rocking motion) it puts on the front and rear of the 5th wheel frame and pinbox. Always use a 5th wheel hitch that absorbs and dampens (front to back) shock! I learned this the hard way during my 25 years of double towing.

You stated don't try to double tow without experience, well how do you get experience without double towing.
@CruizinWithTheCarsons

You be smart about it, ride along with someone who's experienced, practice in a very large parking lot with someone who's experienced, when it's time to take those baby steps do it on a very early Sunday morning when traffic is at a minimum. Not just by hooking up your tag trailer and hitting the road. I was generally speaking in the video to people that have ZERO experience towing, like someone who goes out and buys a 5th wheel, and a tag trailer and decides to just go hit the road with zero experience. Most people who are very experienced at towing a 5th wheel would not have an issue. Typically a tag trailer moves quite well with the 5th wheel.

If would be dangerous if our roads weren't in such pristine condition and drivers weren't so unselfish and obey all traffic laws like they do. And you never hear about mother nature getting out of control anymore. What could possible go wrong?
