The tanks are made of polypropylene, polyethylene or ABS plastic. Normal glue will not bond to them. Not a real bond. You can get stuff to stick to it but not a structural attachment. That's why the JB weld didn't work. We use PE plastic to mold epoxy, it pops right out. Polyolefin plastics have surface structure, like teflon, that will not allow a true bond. BTW Teflon is sintered to pans. Example: You can wet a piece of paper and it will stick to glass but it's not bonded. If it is ABS it glues great. Buy a thin sheet of ABS and solvent weld it to the tank with ABS glue. You want it dry! 47 years in the plastics design and manufacturing business.

Your welcome. This repair is STILL holding up perfectly! The main thing for a good patch is to have the surface completely dry before patching. Thanks for watching!

So glad I found your video. I'm researching the best, long term fix for my grey tank leak. Good information. I don't have a guy to fix my stuff so I do it all myself. It looked fairly simple. Lol. I guess I'll crawl under there tomorrow and see if I can fix it. Thanks for making these videos.

It’s not difficult to do at all…a little messy but not hard. The biggest key is to make sure the area is dry before applying the resin and fiberglass. Thanks for watching!

Would you recommend the same fix also for fresh water tanks? i know that fiberglass is to some extent toxic. Thanks a lot for this video!

As far as a long lasting repair goes, I would absolutely recommend this fix! I’m not sure as to the toxicity this would transfer to fresh water tanks so I can’t speak to that. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the update. I have a leaking grey tank but had some other issues with other things on the camper that took priority. Just kept the tank as empty as possible. Now, it's time to find the leak and repair. I was thinking about the JB Weld prior to finding this video. Now I can nix that process.
