a few drops of rust check on a rag works great , and a drop into the frog area - because rust check creeps and will get into areas not accessible to a rag.

Oh, just having two pieces of different metals touching will be enough to get them to rust. Yeah, definitely sock them if you have to store them in metal. I'm a big fan of Camellia Oil - I use it on all my blue steel cooking knives - dries to a solid barrier and, in a pinch, can be used for food prep! :)

You know they have made 3 and 1 oil for years. I live in Tennessee and our humidity here is awful. Never had a issue

I bought a smoothing plane that was coated in Danish Oil. Its dried on so how do i remove it? What will get it off? The guy i bought it from never used it and just wiped the stuff on and stored it.

I meant to reply. The mineral spirits didn't do the job but denatured alcohol worked like a charm.
