My wife and I are getting into gaming, so this channel is great! Thank you for the vid, you’ve earned a new subscriber :)

I have also had good success introducing Horrified, Kingdomino, Can't Stop, and Point Salad. Sequence, Skippity, and Sushi Go! are other games that I feel are welcoming to non-gamers.

Those are great choices! I’m not familiar with Skippity though. I need to check it out!

Great list. I add the classic Ticket to Ride, Takenoko, Horrifed, Alhambra, Forbiden Island etc. . There are so many great gateway games to introduce people to. My only problem is I get excited when I can introduce people to modern board games that aren't Monopoly or Sorry and have to remember to scale down the complexity. Yes, leave Anachrony on the shelf. ( for now )😊

We’ve definitely made that mistake before. We’ve gotten pumped about a game and then halfway through realized that no one is enjoying themselves. :( so we learned our lesson there.

Good Morning, really enjoyed your video, like your vibe. I am trying to get my family more into gaming and this was a great list. Subbed, look forward to more!

I love Quacks of Quidlinberg (spelling is bad I'm sure) for new gamers. My mom adored it - it's got a great range for audience.

Interesting! I hadn’t thought about that one, but you’re right. I think it would be pretty accessible and definitely a good time. 😃

Great video! Some games I use as an introduction are Las Vegas (dice game), Just One, Splendor, Ta-Da!, Ship Shape, Kingdomino, .... just to name a few. Thanks for the video!

Just One is great. We’ve played that a couple times virtually throughout the pandemic and had a blast! I need scope out Ta-Da!

Your energy was awesome in this video! Even though we don’t know the “inside joke” from your particular session, seeing how much fun you had is a great selling point.

Yeah, it seems like Concept always produces fun stories. The points just don’t matter. Just keep going until someone gives up, or someone guess the clue. :)

Great list of games. My favorite game to introduce people is Splendor!

Nice! I love the poker chips in that one, and the simple engine building is really nice. Bethany isn’t a fan, so I don’t get to play it much. 🤣🤣🤣

Too bad, Since COVID closed the game shops game nights around here, I have played it a bit online with the Steam App. Though holding the poker chips in your hand is a lot more satisfying.

Dixit is one that I'd put up on a list. Its one our daughter really enjoys playing as well, and it is all about imagination.

Absolutely! Dixit made our top party game list. Definitely a favorite as well. I’ve even heard of people using cards from Mysterium for Dixit, and vice versa. I’d love to give that a try sometime. :)

There are just so many games out there! That's one of the reasons we like making lists. We can cover a lot of games in 1 video. lol

Of all your recommendations (which were across the board great) after watching videos on how to play, I choose Tsuro and plan on buying it! But ... there are three versions at my friendly local game store ... of the seas and phoenix rising. Advice on which one to get?
@RyanandBethany

Tsuro of the Sea adds more map spots and a random dragon that pops up and causes chaos. Phoenix Rising adds a little more strategy as you try to string together moves to collect stars. Both are fun, but honestly, they both move away from the simplicity that makes original Tsuro so good. That’s the one we kept and we have gotten rid of the others. But they are all fun!

@@RyanandBethany OK ... My Friendly Local Game Store had Tsuro in stock and I bought and played it twice already. Very Good. But .... major problem! How do you keep the tiles from sliding all over as you move your pieces over them? It is almost like they need to have a waxed coating that gets them to stick to the board (or the board needs ridges around each square so the tiles kind of drop in)

Ah ha ... a solution (maybe) ... draw the 6x6 grid on the back of a GripMat or Neoprene Playmat (or even ON a solid color Neoprene Playat) - this would give the board a slight stickiness ... I have a GripMat that is 24x24 inches square and it worked perfectly to draw the grid on the back. I have a website for our tiny game day group and just posted an article about Tsuro (including a link to your mention and recommendation!!) and included a photo of my custom GripMat grid! I don't think KZitem lets us provide a URL for it, but you can just put in the dots to see it: gamedaygames(dot)files(dot)wordpress(dot)com/2021/05/grid-on-back-of-gripmat(dot)jpg

Hmm. They slip around a tiny bit for us, but nothing crazy. I wonder if a newer printing was a little too glossy or something.

That’s an amazing solution! We have a mat as well. Not as nice as that one, but I think we’ll use that from now on. Thanks!

Pandemic: Hot Zone North America is a quicker version of Pandemic ... when you introduce someone to it ... the game is over in 20 minutes so likely you CAN play it again! :)

That is a fast one! I even heard they are making a Europe Hot Zone. I’m looking forward to checking it out!
