I have this gun and use it quite a bit professionally. Saves the time and hassle of setting up my compressor for smaller jobs. Great review.

I absolutely love mine! But I hate to tell you this but I paid $159.00 plus tax of $10.10 for $169.10 with free shipping. That included the gun, charger, and 4-hour battery. I may buy another battery if I can find it one sale at a later time, but this is good for my needs. It was on sale at a big box store here, (USA). I've been waiting for the Dewalt brad nailer to go on sale because I already have the cordless framing gun and most of my other tools are Dewalt. When stores start their Black Friday Sales, or around Fathers Day is a good time of the year to buy power tools. My favorite feature is how quiet the gun is. I could nail into the wall with someone sleeping need to me and they wouldn't hear it! I have a feeling my pneumatic nailers are going to gather dust before I use them again.

Home Depot was having a "Father's Day" sale last weekend. You could buy the Ryobi batteries (2 amp, 4 amp, and 6 amp) with charger and carry bag for $199 as a kit and choose any tool to go with it for free. I choose this 18ga nailer (selling for $189) for my free tool. So, paid $199 for everything. The deals are out there if you can wait for them.

Great review! Would it do the job for putting up outer panel on a house? The wood thickness you test on in the review seems to suggest it would work but unsure since it's marketed a lot for use on trimmings and finer woodworking..

Hi Thanks for the informative video, just a couple of questions please, your battery is 5ah and I have a old Ryobi 1.5ah battery. Is this sufficient enough for the gun. Secondly, as I am a retired amateur to the wood working game, I noticed that the wood that you have propped up has cellophane wrapped around the end of the timber. Is this to stop it warping at all, or no reason whatsoever. Just a thought. Thanks again Terry. P.S. Keep up the good work.

Hi. Thanks for taking the time out to watch my video. I believe that you can use a 1.5ah battery but I can't imagine it lasting very long.. You may need to put it on charge quite often depending on how much you plan to use it. For the cellophane on the timber. It comes like that when order timber online. No reason just packaging. Thanks

Hi there. I saw a great YT video a while ago that explained the different batteries in greater detail. While OP is correct that a 1.5ah is not going to last as long as a 4.0 or a 5.0, the ah rating isn't just about how much power it charges. ah = amp hours. The number in the rating is the amount of power that the battery could deliver in an hour (assuming an ever lasting charge) if used constantly. This effectively means that the lower rated batteries cannot deliver as much charge in one go. Practically speaking, using the impact driver as an example, it means that though the 1.5ah battery can do the job in a lot of situations, when driving deeper into harder woods, it may not be able to deliver the force required. As an example, I have the Ryobi circular saw. I was using it with my 4.0ah battery. It does a decent enough job going through oak sleepers. However there were occasions where it found the going a bit tough and in those situations the saw would stop and I'd have to take another run at it. Since I've had a 5.0ah battery (recommended for that tool) this rarely happens now. SO for the nailer, I would imagine that it will work, but in harder woods and longer nails, you might find that it is a lot less effective. Sorry for the long winded explanation but I hope that helps. EDIT: Found the video I watched. kzitem.info/news/bejne/q4yD3aRqgZ9ogoY The battery explanation and demonstration is nearer the end.

Nice video, I have Makita tools and I was wondering if was convenient to buy just a Ryoby nailgun, if so what minimum battery capacity would you recommend ?
@TMCarpentry
3 жыл бұрын
All depends on how much you plan to use it and whether you mind charging it alot. I went for a 5ah because it didn't want to keep having to charge it on a job. Works well for me. You should have a look at the adapter you can buy so you can use your makita batteries on the ryobi gun. I've not tried it but I've heard good things about it

I'm sure you can but I can't imagine you getting many nail fired with it. I would always suggest a larger battery for extra power too.

Watch this video for an explanation on what the ah rating actually means. kzitem.info/news/bejne/q4yD3aRqgZ9ogoY I found it incredibly useful in understanding that the ah rating is not just about total power stored but crucially the amount of power that can be delivered at any one moment.
