Given there is no oil feed,I recommend spraying WD40 on the blade before each use. That oil will help protect the chain from burn out.

Last week my local HD did not have any of these 8-inch pruning chainsaws. I went into town today and they had 5 of them on the shelf for $49! HD must be shipping them around the country clearing them out. If you don't see one of these on sale at your local HD today, you might find it available later. It pays to look.

I’m a Ryobi fan, I even have a few of the old blue and gray models. I’m not a fan of the chain saws, I’ve found the small recip saw works better and branches up to 5”to 6” branches. Great review though. 👍🏼

I used my Ryobi recip saw with a 9-inch pruning blade for years cutting branches. It worked great. These small pruning chainsaws are just better.

I had one and burned it up cutting wood after an ice storm. I went and got another and finished the job. Took the first one to a Ryobi repair center as it was still under warranty. Ryobi sent me a brand new one. I was pleasantly surprised. A nice item for around the yard. Does not need bar oil.

It does need bar oil, it just does not have a reservoir for bar oil. Keep the chain oiled and it will work better and last longer.

Not available at my local HD. However, I bought the Ryobi Brushless 6-inch pruning chainsaw last year and that works great for small branches. It was on sale for FREE with purchase of $99 battery pack kit. Hack price of $60 for the brushless pruning chainsaw. Those small pruning chainsaws are better than I expected.

Does it require any bar oil? Thanks for the review.

I have to add oil manually to my pruning chainsaw. However, since the chain speed is relatively slow, you don't need lots of bar oil. I put some bar oil in an empty dishwashing soap bottle and just give the chains a few squirts every once in a while as needed.
