Cracking tool imho and a good overview Karl, thank you - my first ever power saw after a lot of soul searching and it is my second favourite in the growing Ryobi collection... ✅

They sell one that's approx 1/3 of the price of this one, but I think the depth of cut could be more limiting. If you're exceeding it regularly, it would become rather annoying! (the smaller 150mm bladed one can only cut to 45mm max depth)... which is why I think I'll go with this one. Handy review, thank you!

I bought the non brushless version of this at B&Q, didn't find the dust extraction on that to be particularly good... Other than that minor quibble I have to say it's a fantastic tool!

It's not a tool I use a lot. I've not used the brushed version so can't compare the 2 but all I can say is when I do use it I always get covered in man glitter 🤣

Good review. A problem I found with the saw is that when you apply some force downwards on it as you saw, the blade angles slightly to the side. It seems the housing is too weak. The easy way to counter this is to set it to maximum depth, so that the housing rests on the base plate. Shallow cuts are difficult to make in a precise manner. Applying less force is of course a remedy, but difficult sometimes. Is it maybe just my saw, or is yours the same way?

Never really noticed mate as its probably my least used tool. I only really bought it to make the ryobi cupboard lol

Ey up, thanks for that review. I have the brushless drill driver (dd5). It’ll be interesting to see how the 3ah high energy works on that as it also has the 2 extra connections. I bought the battery This morning I wonder if it’s now worth sticking with the brushless models now I have the high energy do you think? Particularly as they can be a fair bit more expensive on some items such as this saw (40 more) Thanks again for the review, very useful

I think it all depends on the tool spec's mate. For example the brushed 1/2" impact wrench has more power than the brushless version. The 3ah high energy battery will also give brushed tools a bit more grunt even though they haven't got the 2 extra terminals like some of the brushless tools have 👍
