This appears to be a common problem. I'm surprised Ryobi hasn't modified the design to fix it. All they need to do is use larger diameter tubing that slides over the upper tubing, or use thick wall tubing. I was going to get this but maybe I'll go with a Kushlan. I wonder if filling that lower tubing with concrete or sliding a piece of pipe inside would add enough rigidity to prevent that problem?

Haha, the home depot web reviews response on another broken rear leg, said that if their engineers were aware of it they would of fixed it.

This happened to me also. Ryobi warranty part replacement is 3 months out. I am going to shim the new part with metal conduit tubing and fill it with CementAll and rebar. Fingers crossed.

I believe round fence 1.5 inch or 2 inch piping, some drilling for tapper or bolts and t-joint at base... repair could work for a non welder owner.
