It is extremely frustrating that you left this video up knowing full well that unlocking the trimmer head is unnecessary to reload the line. The locking mechanism can be extremely hard to unlock. It took me two hours of agonizing frustration and research on tips/tricks to get it unlocked, then again to get it locked. Then after all of that is done, I realized you literally only have to feed the string through the holes of the trimmer head to refill the string. Thanks for wasting two hours of my life. Please add something in the video about this. No one should have to scroll down to the comments to find out about this. You have misled several other users already as evident in the comments

You don't actually need to remove the spool from the housing. You just line up the line on the yellow/green bobbin with the holes in the outer housing while it is fully assembled. Then feed the new string in through the holes - it will feed straight through. Equalize the string so the same amount is sticking out each side and then wind it with the tool. Viola! Easy peasy.

I am the Inventor of this Easy Loading trimmer head of which I license my patent to Ryobi / TTI - You don't have to take it apart. Just line the arrows on the head up to the lines cut into the outside part and the string will push the line straight in and through the hole on the other side. And then once you have the amout of string you want, even it out with the other side, cut it and then just turn the head clockwise and it will wind up on the spool !! - I would highly recommend Eddie that before producing a instructional video you might try reading the instruction manual that Ryobi provides

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use kzitem.infoUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

Thank you for this how-to video! I was about to give up on my Ryobi string trimmer as a "bad product", when all this time I was loading it incorrectly. I bought the pole chain saw and the brush cutter attachments within a short time of buying the motor head with string trimmer attachment. Life happened and the products were put aside for awhile. I read the instructions for the products that would have possibly cut my foot or head off and decided that since I already owned and used 18V Ryobi string trimmers, I would not read the instructions for the 40V string trimmer. HA! Big mistake. I loaded replacement string like I would my 18V string trimmer with great difficulty only to discover that it would not cut, it just fanned the grass in all directions and the string would coil around the string feeder. Lesson learned: Read the instructions to all machinery.

Yes, the reassembly can be difficult. I guess they do that so it doesn’t come apart when you bounce it to release more line. That would be a pain. I hope you get it back together. Thanks so much for watching.

Great video, awful product. All I wanted and I had to explain this to the salesman was he thread in, thread out of my last whacker. Told him I did not want anything that entailed disassembly. He sold this to me anyway. Very unhappy. Want to buy a weed wacker?

Thank you so much for this! We tried and tried to feed the line through like the instructions say, and no matter what we did, it would get so you could just barely see it on the inside of the other hole, but it would not come through. It would just catch and pass by. We did everything except try to pull it through with tweezers. Finally said "forget that, just take the head off..." and your video helped us through that. I do love this weed whacker but have mercy this string replacement and taking the head apart is a huge learning curve. Trying to get that head back locked was a nightmare, and my husband is like...the Hulk 😉 and had to get the WD40 because even he couldn't get the dang thing to lock back again! The process took the two of us nearly an hour. And my hubby is quite handy so thats saying something! Thanks again!

I obviously do not. That’s why I keep hold of the line as I wind it. Also, I think the finer the line, the twistier it will be while trying to send it in the channel in the spool.

I was thinking the same thing But I removed the head anyway so could clean around the area . Pretty simple don't you know ? Blessing from the free state of beautiful Florida.. P/s I've owned many weed eaters in my life time I remember when they were first introduced .But this 40 volt electric Ryobi is by far the best I've ever used ..No cord no gas or oil, no fumes no pulling the crank cord until your arm falls off ",A big plus.."And it is 🔋 powerful .."Nice !"😁 👍

This video is straight forward, just wish the housing of the head was easy to remove on my unit. Had it for just under 2 years and need to replace the line, except there is something stuck inside the head preventing the line from feeding through cleanly and I'm unable to remove the head by following your instructions or the manual. Looks like I'm having to call Ryobi. Either way, excellent video Eddie, keep it up!
