If you do get one of these I have a good tip for everyone. I am a first time buyer of this by the way. When you are finished de-soldering, do not unplug the gun right away. While the gun is still on, use the cleaning rods to poke through to get any extra solder out of the nozzle. It will effect the performance of it. You will lose more suction with half melted/solder inside.

Are there any safety components installed on the circuit board? Also any current leakage from the nozzle? I'm always not very confident with these Chinese brands.

@@afstar101 for me sure, because i got fid secure switch in my house, wich covered entire house instalation, so if just a few mA leak threw the ground it will cut off entire house emidiatly (actually i got another fid in my workshop) otherwise the entire house will be withowt power too often, when i make some experiments) if there some other secure on the board i don't know.

Just received mine from Banggood and was very hopeful. But it's rubbish. I've spent over 30 minutes trying to remove a 40-pin IC and it's barely able to suck the solder. Very disappointing. Should have just bought a Hakko I think - even though it's more than twice the price - I'm sure it would work better than the S-993.
@TinC33

Where's your problem, do you add a bit more new solder, it helped a lot, because if there's more solder heat transfer is better.
@pocketscience911

@@TinC33 yes, I tried that (saw that tip elsewhere). I just doesn't seem to heat up enough to easily melt the solder. I have a spare heating element - I'll try that one. Maybe the one in the unit is defective.

@@pocketscience911 hmm strange mine heat up enough so almost never got setted to full, but it's true that the tip is not the best quality, inside is a steel insert for longer life of tip, mayve thatone got bad contact and lose lot of thermal energy here, check it.

You should have tested it using PTH multi-layer PCB, NOT a single sided. For that, the manual solder sucker is good enough! So I personally think that this video is just a waste and Banggood selected a wrong person to do the review, simply because you did not demonstrate the full capability of that thing!
