Never understood this argument, the salary cap is directly based on the league's actual income, if this money doesnt go to the players it goes to their billionaire owners, the market says theyre worth this money, so they make this much money, whats the argument that theyre not "worth" it?

Yea, PG did play over 70 games THIS year, ironically when it was his contract renewal year. But he’s been injured and missed a ton of games in the past three. Him and Kawhi have collectively missed over 300 games together.

Why pay 100s of millions in tax for guy you already didn't win with who is now way older? The clippers didnt blow anything they were never going to win a ring with Paul, hes still a top player but if your goal is to win a ring paying paul and harden top money pushes you further from the goal and wastes kawhi "prime" even though he always gets hurt

I hate this but you’ve got something here. I really truly think it’s more about LAK being far further out of contention than LAC, so LAC has some time to figure out how to continue to gain & grow.

Why worry about the back end of that? PG is still a very good player. Maxey has 5 years. Embiid will retire in philly. They got a 4 year window to win a chip until PG’s contract expire. If they win 1 ring, its all worth it. If not then, they will still have a 28 year old Tyrese Maxey to build around. Philly made the right choice

The clippers did make a mistake in overpaying to trade him to the team because of Kawhi. But at this stage, PG is no longer a top 25 player, and will not be a top 100 player in 3-4 years’ time. So to pay him 50 m per year plus a no trade clause is crazy. And the clippers are doing the right thing. it’s worth losing a massively overpaid falling star for free if you could have an MLE player each year plus more player movement going forward. What the clippers say is true: it’s really about the second apron. But what they deliberately omitted is that the club doesn’t want to overpay max dollars for a non top 25 player to get to the second apron. Good luck sixers. For some reasons they just love to pick up garbage from clippers’s garage sales. Tobias Harris. Doc rivers and now Podcast P. And in all likelihood they will likely be burnt even more than the previous two cases.
