@zacharyliverseed8464 the chimera does win but in anomaly, I am not sure what their encounter is in cop. The main reason on why the chimera wins is because it spams the lunge attack since it gets stuck in from the pseudogiant 😂

What comes to my mind is that there are additional variants of mutants of the zone: different kinds of dogs, flesh, blood suckers, even boars. The easiest distinction was implemented in stalker shadow of chernobyl as you can see if you managed to kill a stronger type of mutant by checking the PDA. There are also stronger types of snorks, but I can't tell if they look much different compared to the regular creatures.
@anomalousdugout9557
3 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's true. It was also said that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will have more of those variants of mutants.
Although in anomaly, I once saw a pseudogiant walk vertically on a wall of the palace of culture, no need to say anything further, my jaw was dropped dead and only thought of whether if the beast could actually move like that since it's legs + core are its strongest body parts.

I didn't want to say this but the Pseudogiants look hilarious and adorable while stomping around from a distance (especially in SoC & CS), like some giant deformed chicken. 😆 I also noticed they often times turn tail and run away once coming right next to the player (might be just cause of damage taken), as shown in your gameplay. Regardless, great and informative video. 🙂

My best guess? They are created in secret laboratory North of the CNPP, a place named as 'Generators', pretty fitting, its a cut map, but its rumored to be canon, only we can't go there, there is a whole a laboratory system under the whole map, one of them labeled as "Monolith War Lab", there is an another up North, all around the Generators are all kinda mutants, starting from Tushkanos and Fleshes to Pseudogiants, Chimeras, Controllers, Polter and Pyrogeists, and rumored to be the HQ of the Dark Stalkers, whose were test subjets themselves. Some mutants not even really mutants, more like new organisms, like the Chimera, Pseudogiant, Bloodsuckers, Polter/Pyrogeists are all new animals, never known what they mutated from, IF they mutated at all. Maybe the Pseudogiant can be excluded.
@reopri-lz7yw

Poltergeists originally were supposed to walk and not be an flying anomaly but due to time and problems with the animations, it was turned into an anomaly. I think it was going to be a tanky mutant that would be able to melee attack you while using its powers. This might explain why we see its model in SoC but in other games we don't as the idea was scrapped. 8:23 that part was supposed to be the pseudogiant but i could be wrong but i do know that the lab itself was planned to be much more different but since SoC was rushed and never fully finished we get this unfinished part as the door itself doesn't lead anywhere. Fun fact the foot on its leg is actually a hand. I theorize that in CoP the pseudogiant that was stuck in there and since there are zombie stalkers i think what happened was the stalkers kept it as a pet or just fed it while it was small, and then they turned into zombified stalkers from the anomalies there and i suppose the gigant has a really slow metabolism. I think it explains why it was there the stalkers never attacked it as it wasn't much of a threat for them. In one of the books a pseudogiant somehow took down a helicopter i don't know if this is true however The chimera is a bear, lion and a human merged together. It's hands are that of a person but with claws of a bear(those are in no way a lion's claws) its body has similarities to both a bear and lion. Originally they were supposed to appear in SoC as a rare mutant(if not the rarest) and since it never made it to the game the devs added a part of its story where it was hunted to extinction or so it was though. Out of all these mutants i think the chimera is the only mutant that could possibly reproduce.

Zone Sportsmanship Challenge: Blast chimeras out of the air with 40-mils as they lunge at you of demented do0m a go go. 13:22 I'll never understand why they took away the ability to "dodge" those pseudostomps by jumping at just the right time. Not being able to "dodge" like that doesn't increase the challenge. It actually decreases it since you can no longer fight them effectively toe-to..."toe." You have to pound them with 40-mils from a distance. I mean, it totally makes sense to do that, but the player should also have the option of doing it all sportsmanlike. Regarding your comment about these mutants reproducing, I disagree on the subject regarding the Pseudogiant and Chimera, I do think they have the capability of reproducing, but they may have a slow reproductive cycle, and possibly coupled with their small initial numbers might explain their relative rarity in the Zone. That's probably for the best, however, as they're the Zone's apex predators. I'll now copy over my comment on Poltergeists and Pyrogeists from the video on X-18, just for people that are curious: "One thing I find odd is that Poltergeists in SoC leave bodies, but not in CoP. It's possible that, perhaps, Poltergeists can be produced naturally in the Zone (possibly as a sort of living, sentient anomaly) or artificially, and it's only fully artificial Poltergeists that can leave bodies. The exception to this are Pyrogeists due to the immense thermal energy contained in their bodies...or what qualify as such, which, upon being compromised, is released in a violent burst of heat and psyonic energy like a balloon being popped. Another difference between the games is that the ones in CoP can only see you if you’re moving...except the one in X-8, the ones in SoC and Clear Sky don’t have this limitation at all. The thing that all of the latter have in common is that, for the most part, you encounter them in enclosed spaces, unlike the “blind” Poltergeists encountered out in the open in CoP. Maybe the “natural” Poltergeists rely on sound to navigate their surroundings and identify threats, even very faint ones, and an enclosed space would amplify those noises enough that just your pulse or breathing is enough for them to locate you. Artificial Poltergeists, rarely seen outside of X-18 (usually in the Wild Territory) don’t have this limitation as they seem to have functional eyes, but by CoP’s events months after SoC, the last of the artificial Poltergeists have been erradicated or else remain in isolation somewhere." Trapped pseudogiants might be able to survive due to some quirk that lets them slow their metabolisms down when food is scarce, like how some mammals hibernate in winter, as brought up in the video, or maybe they can just go a long time without having to eat, but their aggression whenever something does enter their territory is because they have to be opportunistic and get whatever meals they can, because it has no idea when or if the next one's coming.

It is a possibility that the Pyrogeists were used as energy sources for the monolith device. In fact since the NPP isn't operational (As a powerplant at least) it seems like a lot of the secret facilities might be powered by anomalies and captured mutants, especially when Monolith is involved. It could even be an area of research from the original group of scientists given what happened at Chernobyl. Alternatively normal electrical energy might not be enough for what the C-conciousness planned to do, so many of the weirder devices like the brainscorcher might require anomolus/paranormal/Psi energy. In the later games poltergeists are litterally floating balls of energy, that seem to never need fuel. Given that artifacts allowed Monolith to make handheld gaussrifles, energy from the zone might also be powering many other devices. Also the pyrogeists only escape when you damage the devices, so they could be some cross between cages and batteries.

I'm preety sure both of the "geists" are the same creature, let me explain. What you see in an electrical arch is the air in a relatively hot plasma state. That is caused by some of the extremely high voltage electrical energy passing through the air getting caught in the air's electrical resistance and being stopped, wich turns the electrical energy into thermal energy. That thermal energy is so strong it "evaporates" the air even further than it already is, turning it from a gas into a plasma, wich, similarly to what we communly call "radioactive materials", expels radiation, but, it expels electromagnetic radiation (A.K.A. light) instead of ionizing radiation (A.K.A the thing that nuclear things produce), and due to it being a hot plasma it contains a lot of energy, and the more the energy, the higher the frequency of the light's wavelenght. This causes it to be bright blue, a higher frequency colour. Fire is similar, what you see in fire is the air in a relative cold plasma state, wich tipicaly contains less energy making it a lower frequency colour (generally somewhere between yellow and red, the two lowest colours). This is caused by the air being heated up by thermal energy, tipicaly the result of something combusting. Combustion wich is an exothermic quemical reaction in wich high heat is introduced to a substance (C₄H₁₀, O₂, etc.) or mixture (Alcohol, air, etc.), that high heat causes the chemical to rapidly decompose, realeasing all the energy previously contained within it in the form of thermal energy wich, again, is generally strong enough to "melt" or "evaporate" the air into plasma. So this means that both of the "geists" work in the same way, but producing *very* strong ammounts of energy, only difference being one is thermal and other electrical. However, we can take this a step further. Energy is energy, regardless of what type it is, that is why mechanical energy can be converted into electrical and thermal energy, both of wich can be converted in the other, or back into mechanical. This means that it is possible, if not likely, that they a both the same thing, creature that can generate *ridiculous* ammounts of energy, and some choose to use that energy thermally and others electrically. This theory could even explain their telekenisis, and why pyrogeists don't use it often. Every material is anti-magnetic, that being, everything is repeled, in some level, by magnetic fields, even metals, however their attraction to magnetic fields is greater than their repelence. And, as we are all aware, magnetic fields can be generated by electric fields and vice-versa. Wich means that the poltergeist can, without breaking any laws of physics, "telepathically" throw and raise objects by greating a great magnetic field in the opposite direction that the object is to be trown towards, or in the case of magnetic objects, in the direction in wich it is to be thrown. This would also explain why pyrogeists bearly use telekenisis, since the magnetic fields used for it are generated by electrical energy and pyrogeists preffer to use thermal energy. However they still do use telekenisis, such as when one locks the door in the underground, wich means that they *can* create those electrically generated strong magnetic fields, wich can point towards my theory of them both being the same. However i must say it can also point towards them being different creatures. In the way of: the fact that pyrogeists bearly never use telekenisis can point towards them being different creatures, this opposite theory is due to the fact that the only situation in wich a pyrogeist has used telekenisis is by locking that door and opening the other one, wich can be seen as desperate measures taken in attempt to kill the main character, and they were only able to do that by forcing themselves extremely, wich would explain why when that pyrogeist locked that door you could see flames coming from it, that would be because it wasen't biologically capable of effectivelly producing the extreme levels of electrical energy required to properly create the magnetic field required for that action, so a lot of the energy he generated, dispite his efforts to create an entirerly electromagnetic field, were still thermal energy that resulted in a combustion of the air arround the door. P.S. - As i port this theory to reddit because i want more people to see it, i have come up with another theory on telekenisis. it if also possible that they are just making pure mechanical energy, instead of making electrical energy and then converting it into mechanical. however this theory would not explain the flames on the X-18 door, or why poltergeists do it fequently, while pyrogeists only do it rarelly. off topic, but do you have any intention of giving recommendations about "augmented" versions of the original titles? I'm not really a shooter-kind-of-gamer, the stalker-franchise being the sole exeption. But after close to 15 years, the vanilla games are a terrible mess, even to the uninitiated, first and foremost SoC. They are ill-suited to introduce all those gamers who might have been preschoolers in 2007 to the world of Stalker. So while there are a lot of conversion mods, what I think is generally lacking is promotion of a type like "If you play any of the Stalker games today, this collection of mods is a good way to experience the story and worldbuilding without this half-finished, half-broken, feature-incomplete feel to it. And with graphics that are just "fine". I don't know how Stalker 2 will turn out, but at the very least this is exposure for a whole new generation of players who likely haven't touched any of the titles and would play vanilla SoC for about 20min before deciding its irredeemable crap. Personally, I came back to Stalker a few days ago and play Autumn Aurora SoC. But I really don't know if this a very good "interpretation" of how SoC might have been intended or if there are better ones out there. And I most def don't have the time to compare, thus people like me look for recomendations from someone knowledgeable and invested. Like you.
@anomalousdugout9557
3 жыл бұрын
I think I understand what you are looking for, unfortunately I feel like I don't have the knowledge to answer. You see, the vanilla games were never a problem for me, so I never tried to find mods that were just "improvements" of the original games. All the mods that I have played were large modifications with a lot of changes, thus not a good "interpretation" of the official SoC. Yet, I've heard of some mods such as ZRP or in fact, Autumn Aurora which presumably should fill this role. Although I cannot confirm you by experience if this is true or not. I'll try to look further into it, maybe I'll find enough info to make a video but I can't promise anything.

@@anomalousdugout9557 I personally quite like Anomaly and still hold out hope for Dead Air 1.0, but most people probably don't want "some" mods, but the games they heard about, just in a much more playable state and with obvious features like repair and upgrades in SoC. Might also be a good way to participate in the inevitable hype before the Stalker 2 release.

One of dialogues in CoP mentions that chimeras suddenly disappeared out of sight "one and half years ago" (so in 2010 - yearly 2011, while earliest of games is happening in fall 2011). In the X lab, in the room where the Pyrogeist is, there are capsules with baby-like monsters. One of the capsules is broken and empty, so it seems that these creatures are the Pyrogeists. honestly, i think most of the mutants mentioned in this video are "bioweapons" developed by different research groups. mutants like the chimera are almost perfect killing machines, and the chances of them mutating into that are almost none. this is especially apparent because we see no mutants with severe deformities that we would expect from radiation or maybe the manipulation of the noosphere. almost all mutations are beneficial to the mutant. i think the flesh is a good example of a realistic mutant without manipulation, since it is very malformed and simply from the walking animation, it can be seen that it is very unstable in each step. thank you for listening to my ted talk, the next episode will be on why i think this should give me extra credit on the next test.
@anomalousdugout9557

Yes, I think this is probably true. In fact, design documents for old versions of Shadow of Chernobyl did describe the Chimera as a beast created in laboratory. But this info never made it to the final game, so we can't be 100% sure.

Yeah that was my idea also.The scientists from the group didn't want to weaponize mutants right?They were using the experiments to learn more about the noosphere.Then why some mutants are like you said perfect killing machines?For example how does the bloodsucker ability to turn invisible helps the the group on their goal exactly?Unless someone is using the group's reaserch to make bioweapons.
