I'm a keyboardist in a band... there's a tune we do in which, every once in a while, I'll put this somewhere in the solo. The first time I did this, the other members of the band turned their head, smiled, and said, "I know that from _some_ where!" 🙂

I still remember meeting the late, great Robert Urich when I was a little boy as a patient at Newington Children's Hospital in Connecticut. He was visiting sick kids in the hospital and we played the theme song to "All in the Family" together on an upright piano. It must have been around 1975. This show was still on then.

Ahhh, how many of those plastic, toy M-16s from K-Mart did I break playing S.W.A.T. when I was a kid in the 70's?? And, I remember they released the song as a "disco" hit and I used to make my mom turn it up everytime it came on our local AM station in Sumter, SC. (In the Heart of Dixie..WDXY)!!!! This brought back some great, happy memories of my childhood. There wasnt alot of happiness, but this clip reminded me of the good times. Thank you for posting.

A little history about this theme- written by Barry DeVorson and performed by Rhythm Heritage. There are 2 recorded versions one for AM and one for FM which is longer -recorded in 1975- hit no.1 for several weeks in 1976. -they performed the song on American Bandstand in late spring of 1976.

Was that all one shot? If so, it would have had to have been Rod Perry doing the whole sequence himself, diving through the window, landing on a mattress and somersaulting up. As a kid, that was the most fascinating shot.

It says "Metro" on the front at the end, but I'm not sure if that's the manufacturer or the model of truck. One of the stars recalled that it was a repainted used bakery truck and that they all got thrown around pretty badly in the back of it durring filming. Note the old-school brakes with no ABS; it makes for dramatic stops, but can certainly flat-spot the tires!
