I had the chance to meet the man on a more personal level. Spend the afternoon, eat some food, go for a ride in one of his "Wagons". He definitely wasn't what I was expecting from someone that had been in Hot Rod magazine and famous. He was just a guy that was like anyone else. He was down to earth and treated me like we had been best friends for years. One of the highlights of my life.

@@rayhope7957 - It's a play on the original truck that it's named after, Bill 'Maverick' Golden's "Little Red Wagon". They replaced the word 'Red' with 'Dead' to keep with the "Graveyard Carz" theme of the series, where they literally bring back cars from the dead and miraculously restore them.

FYI- Johnny Lighting by Topper, didn't come out until 1969 !... It challenged Hot Wheels 1/64 diecast cars, which debuted in 1968.... Many other inaccuracies from Mark about the LRW. One of which was , it was originally built and owned by the Chrysler Corp. in 1964, and raced to show off their new Hemi Engine and the A100 trucks. And Bill Golden wasn't even the first race driver of the truck- he was the 2nd, and when Mopar realized the truck couldn't be competitive as an A/FX class raced- since it couldn't keep the front wheels on the ground, they sold the truck to their 2nd driver - Bill "Maverick" Golden, who realized it's potential to become a Exhibition Racer !

Mark I wonder...since the 426 hemi weighs so much more than a 440 six pack, would the hemi still be faster with just 30 more hp?(according to the factory, we know those numbers are off some...)
@13coyote13
2 жыл бұрын
True tested numbers show 490hp for the Hemi and 370 for the 340 Six Pack, all it was was higher rpm and some timing tweaks, the numbers shown to the government were real just not the peak hp they actually put out. The 440 Six Pack wasn't as high as the Hemi due mainly to the superior flow abilities of the Hemi Head, the Hemi's true value comes in with supercharging or turbo charging that's why it's the engine for top fuel racing.

The one down at Don Garlits Museum was a replica, It had an empty Hemi block and empty transmission, It was just built for the museum because the last running wagon was still on tour at the time, I know this because I donated the headlight covers and the grille, Because I used to crew for Bill Maverick Golden and the Number Four Little Red Wagon from 1988 to 2002 his retirement, That truck has been sold three times since it left the museum, Also the truck and the museum had the driver sitting on the left side and that's the way it was with Number One and Two, Number Three and Four to driver sat in the center with Center steering in the center seat, The last running truck is in the museum in Coal City Illinois and a private Mopar Museum of Greg and Kathy Mosley.
