What a delight to get back to stream fishing as Alfred and I have been talking about it since his last walk with his friend out to see the big guy and the beaver.
It’s a magical time looking from the hillside down at the water for the first fishing of the season.
And what action!! A bonus?!
I ‘knew’ there was something in that FIRST hole of the season! I had just commented about my daughter reminding me to turn on the gp and then flick out when that monster hit the Panther Martin. My mouth was open wide as I saw the attack right before me. What a surprise. And the water was incredible as the fish was certainly bold to come that close. I’ve watched that moment on my Quik app more than once when it struck, a ferocious bite and then a good struggle on 4lb test. Loved watching the strength in the swirl as the body struck and then moved back into deeper water.
And then the 2nd catch after a 30 second walk around the fallen trees?!!
I admit I’d fish it differently next time as I was worried by the current and the strength of the fish which I think looked a tad larger than the one I’d just landed!
I was concerned about the current and my ability to navigate the waters without stumbling. And I was going to try when the fish left the scene. I plan on returning.
My bad but what a day already in just under 10 minutes of fishing.
I didn’t fish a few spots that normally get fished as I was tired, almost bewildered by such great luck on the opening weekend.
Thanks Alfred for getting the segments into a video so quickly. Hopefully you’ll be similarly busy after we go fishing in a few days to the water featured in last year’s video 4. I expect totally different conditions.
Cheers
