Hahaha them blue eyes and then "Hey, get back in your cage!" cracked me up. Good to see the steady progress on these trees!

They are looking good, you gotta just keep chipping away at them, then one day you will be amazed at how great they have got.

Not many choices to make with this crap, if hey...moving forward nonetheless! Thanks man. PS love the progress on the Canadien Hemlock. Really nice work, thanks for sharing.

Don’t be too hard on yourself. You’re doing great. I especially like Norway #4. All of the stumps we start with look like crap at first...

Thanks man, and right? Isn’t there something about that little tree that has character? I didn’t mention scale in the video but that one’s only about 4” tall. It’s budding back pretty well and has pretty short internodes, which is contrary to everything I’ve read about Norway maples. Maybe it isn’t one? Thanks again, stay tuned for more crap! -BBI

Very nice taper explanation, I think I’ll have to shorten my Hornbeam as well and add a smooth transition with the main branche

MaxInLA yes! I think my bigger maple here was similar to your hornbeam in scale, so stick around for the update video in a few weeks. That leader took the hell off and thickened up considerably!

leighharron someone else made that same comment. I guess it’s like...GOOD crappy? Definitely a good amount of character for a 4” tall Norway maple (if that’s what it even is). You think it’s too late for me to report these things? The buds are getting pretty swelly.

Boston Bonsai Idiot man I'm still repotting all sorts of things. Do you need to repot it?

Hey Ben, cheers and thanks for the comment! So for the biggest one (NM#2) I made a video a few weeks ago (first video this year). I may even do an update "short" just to show it with the leaves out since it's pretty hilarious. Looks like a little pile of leaves someone raked. I repotted the two smaller ones this spring too so I'll get a video out on those soon. They're both doing fine, but I'd say #3 (the middle sized one) is the weakest of the bunch. It's leafed out just fine, but it's leaves wilt from time to time, which I think means the roots haven't fully recovered from the repot. Cheers man, welcome and stay tuned!

@@BostonBonsaiIdiot I must have missed the video, I’ll find it! Not always easy to do bonsai with kids, and videos! Hopefully you find the time soon Cheers
