Follow us as we motorhome in our Mobilvetta across Europe with our two dogs.
This week we travel up from Englesqueville La Percee a farm campsite Ferme les rouges Fosse to Veules les Roses camping Les Mouettes site. Again this village is steeped in WW11 history, it is a very moving place.
As we travel up in our motorhome, we stop briefly at the war memorial on Omaha Beach. This is to commemorate all those soldiers who sacrificed so much during D-day back in June 1944 for freedom. We also drive through Bayeux, which we would like to visit properly sometime in the future.
Veules les Roses has 2 guns from the cargo boat P21 Cerons which in 1940 rescued 300 British soldiers during the WW2 war. At low tide you can also see the boat out at sea as it had gone aground during the evacuation. We had a lovely walk up to Sotteville Sur Mer which is a gorgeous small French village.
But it was finally time to take the DFDS ferry in our motorhome from Deippe in France across the English Channel to New Haven with the dogs. Don’t forget if you are lucky enough to be over 60 and you phone rather than book online you get 20% discount on this route.
This is French motorhoming at its best for WW11 history.
We have, despite falling over and the extraordinary weather, yet again loved traveling and exploring both France and Spain.
This is the last episode in this series but coming up is our Greek Odyssey. Motorhoming through many countries including France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, San Marino.
