A special shout out to Escape to Chimp Eden, Eugene Cussons and Co for being the OGs of Abused Primate Rescue and Rehabilitation. Eugene and his willingness to get into the enclosures as needed to work with struggling primates at risk of his own health. Alot of these facilities would never have had the opportunities or public interest if he hadnt blazed the trail that opened the door for these types of centers to be created. Seeing the episodes where Eugene works 1on1 with Jiao never ceases to amaze/mystify me..

I really enjoy this show for several reasons, 1 is because it doesn't just show us the daily life of all the primates they have rescued but it also shows us how they get rescued. So I like it because we can see how a lot of the poor animals have had to live before Alison and her teams rescues and saves them. I think what her and her team does in awesome!

Perhaps someone here knows the answers to my questions. I wonder how and why Sally and Lulu have very different hair and body types from most chimps? I love the color of their hair! And their bodies are more slender and gracile than most chimps. More akin to the body type we see in Bonobos. Could Sally & Lulu be chimp-bonobo hybrids perhaps?
@shawna6683
That’s a great question. Now that you mention it…I have heard that bonobos are fairly unknown to the general public because they were mistaken for a species of chimps until recently. There have to be hybrids out there.

I love apes and monkeys but Chimps are my least favorite. Even so no animal or human should experience abuse. Some people, and more than I would expect, have no respect for life.I simply don’t understand why someone who is responsible for the care of any living creature wouldn’t try to make thier existence as pleasant as possible. If karma and the devil are real I would rejoice in seeing the abusers pay the piper.

The Turks are known to care very well for all strays, from dogs and cats to migrating storks, I would imagine that they would extend their care and concern to abused primates on their public beaches.

The tourist are just as guilty as the owner and photographer 🤬 I can't imagine paying someone to take a picture of me smiling and having a good time next a suffering animal! The kids don't understand. They only know what their parents have taught them but the adults know what these chimps are going through! They can't all be so ignorant that they don't know their families were killed and then they were tortured!

So sad what some humans do to animals. Then there’s wonderful humans that step up to save them. Humans abuse animals all over this planet. In India it’s the abuse of elephants. So heartbreaking. We the public should never support these people by taking pictures with these poor creatures.

I don’t know how to take this….. taking the method of which this man makes a living to feed his family! Oxen pull carts. Horses give humans rides on a dude ranch. There are many animals that work. Should we take away dalmatians from firetrucks? What about dogs at work for the sheriffs office? What is the difference?

The difference is this is abusive work. The chimp was clearly poached and sold. It had its teeth broken so it would not bite back. The working animals you menioned do work, but they are treated well and with respect. Their breeds are created for work.
