Sorry for no reply but I have never seen the car again its my workmates machine but he said it was not happening so often after he sprayed Mr muscle oven cleaner into the turbo! Thanks for all your help cheers sandy

Just had the same problem on my Saab, didn't think it had a dpf either got it on my mates diagnostic kit and is said something about dpf being under high pressure so I took it out for a half hour run gave it a good spanking and it's all cleared up fine!

It's not a Vauxhall engine, it's a Fiat JTD 16v 1.9 150bhp.

In my case it was filled DPF (2009 tid Hirsch) . I have added STP DPF formula to the fuel, then drove 30km on highway keeping engine at 3000 RPM and problem solved!

either the map sensor or the boost pressure valve, would take the fuel code with a pinch of salt..egr system blockage can cause problems like this too. need to check live data and test the egr/boost pressure valve

It "seems" very much like an EGR and or boost actuator fault, but but you would have had EGR fail and boost fail intimated in the bit log if either had failed, so think fuel pressure low and hi need to be tested for first :(

Dpf problem same as mine 1.9tid 150bhp, i cleaned the Dpf one month ago and i got it again, next step Dpf and egr removal and remap, it will be another car

Changed my fuel pump on my 2008 aero 9-3 and this happened Bc it was a cheap non brand one from eBay... lesson learned don’t buy the cheap ones

Did u sort it? U should check the swirl flap actuator rod on these engines, I've removed my swirl flaps and fitted a blanking kit

Do they have a lift pump in the tank? Mine is a 2005 with the same engine as yours, because I have another car im stripping for spares and wasn't going to bother with the tank sins it is plastic, however if it has a costly pump inside, it would be worth my while removing that also

It cost 30 pounds in parts and I did it myself because u repair cars for a living, also the egr valve can stick and fill the inlet manifold with black gunk and cover the map sensor with black crap, so I took the manifold off which Will NOT come off without removing the fuel pump, I then opened up the manifold because you can unfold it and it splits into 2 halfs, I then removed the swirl flaps intirly and blocked the holes using a swirl flap delete kit, and cleaned the map sensor, I then fitted a egr blank plate to stop the flow of exhaust gases and shit entering the intake manifold, this will put your engine management light on with a low flow egr fault because the map sensor detects the flow of exhaust gases entering the intake manifold and if there is no flow, it will set a fault code, so I reprogrammed the ecu, with a stage 1 remap which gives copious amounts of power! By increasing injector pulse and boost, and programmed a get delete where you tell the ecu not to activate the egr valve and in turn it won't be looking for exhaust gas flow and there for not set a fault, and my car is a+++++ now and a pleasure to drive, stage 1 remap is all the car can take as if you have stage 2 remap it's likely to destroy the clutch and rotors, you would need to fit uprated clutch etc, so stage 1 remap/ egg delete/ swirl flap delete, will resolve all your issues

Sandy, what was the background to this fail, e.g. on a normal drive and then suddenly went into limp home mode ?, it's got a 106k odd on the clock EGR will be well sooted, so may restrict movement but not enough to kick in bit fault, might be worth a look at it, can your code scanner actuate and test the EGR ? (I know the code reader didn't bring up a bit code for EGR). Bypass the EGR (plate it and see what happens ?), Regrets you've got to start somewhere, or just disconnect EGR connector and see what happens, roughness may disappear which would indicate EGR as part of prob. The next prob is why boost ain't kicking in.

I know its 'way after' the original conversation..... but.... I've got a Saab 1.9 TiD SportWag 150bhp version on a 56 and I had exactly the same issue; going 'limp' when trying to get some power out of it... sometimes just really sluggish and lumpy and the 'limp' home (and cry!!!) would eventually kick in (at the worst possible time and place) turned out to have multiple problems -1. EGR was stuck open: cleaned it all and polished the shite out of it BUT just couldn't get it to tow the line...... so through gritted teeth bought a new one.. 2. DPF (I think this should be DRF for; dirty, robbing, f×#kers..... protecting the environment?? how?? by having people buy new dpf filters thinking either A. The existing one is knackered... where's my massive, over-full wallet!? (when all that's wrong is the system isn't running a proper regen on a clear run!!? OR that its been left so long it is BROKE now? "It's ECO friendly... sorry pal, that'll be £700 please") you've just polluted the earth making it and just for kicks... created scrap/waste for a bit of expensive littering.... its NOT eco friendly.... it's 'pull your pants down' robbery!!! Rant over.... sorry about that That needed a full TEC 2 reset, clean out with toxic stuff and a solid run... all good!!! 3. Cooling fan over haul (fuses renewed, cleaned and oiled.. you should know that this just came up on the TEC as a final fault code) thought f#*k it.... in for a penny.... If I do it all.... I can't look back at it IF it hadn't fixed all the issues thinking that f*#k1ng fan!!!??? So long story shortened It's back to it's solid best!!! I don't sh1t myself everytime I pull out... hoping it doesn't go in to limp mode and the lorry goes straight over me!!

workmate came back with car as its now cutting out! so I have done as u said attached Delphi scan tool and graphed actual fuel pressure v specified and it shows the actual dropping away while the specified remains high so I think either its a low pressure supply problem ( pressure shows 7 bar) or its the solenoid on the high pressure pump that has a habit of sticking or failing what do u think cheers sandy
