Thanks Mike, Great idea. Was willing to pay 10us$ and change for these, but with shipping to Australia made them almost as much as Oz suppliers ask for them, AU$30 a piece?.... which is bull C#!*^. Which made me think surely i could make some and look to KZitem for some ideas, and yours was the first video i looked at, and need to look no further.

is that piece of 2x4 even necessary?

Without something to "square up" the outer side of the clamp, you'll find that when you tighten the wingnut it will act on the outer piece in a way that lifts it up off the fence. You can use whatever scrap material you have around to use as that "bridge" piece, but I think you'll get the same results I did if you don't use something to bridge over the fence that is squarely attached to the outer clamp section.

That makes sense. I guess the hole through the plywood will flex a lot.

I made this today. I used 2 pieces of ash, roughly 3x2x1 1/2, as the end blocks. I put the bolts through the 2" axis. 2 inches of is not going to flex. And the 5/16 bolt isn't going to bend easily. No need for the piece of 2x4. I spend some time with the vice and a hammer to get the cut bolts to be straight and bent just shy of 90 degrees square. Thanks for the video. It's a great idea.

Whatever works for you! I think with thicker clamping pieces, the middle section may not be required. In any case, we can save some money and exercise our brain muscles by coming up with our own versions of this helpful jig. Thanks for the comment!
