So absolutely heartbreaking. I would never be able to overcome such pain. What a gift Landon is, saving lives through being a donor. A true hero.

This one hit home. I lost my daughter Sammy on May 6 2024. The absolute worst thing a parent will go through is to bury a child. My daughter was also a organ donor, she saved 5 people's lives. Im super proud of that. I'M waiting for the day that maybe one of them will contact me. Hold yoir loved ones tight because ya just never know. Thanks for listening to me. ❤

My heart aches for you, I'm so so sorry. Having your daughter back would obviously be what you want, but you should still feel proud that she is a hero 5x over (obviously this isn't the same as getting her back, that's not what I'm trying to say).

I can't begin to think I understand your grief.... May your memories of your daughter be stronger than your grief, in time. I hope you hear from the people your daughter helped. ❤ thank you for sharing. 🙏🏻

@Fozzie-TX AMEN to that! While I understand the family's heartbreak and anger at losing their family member, I also can see the defendant's side. ANY one of us could be her. ANY one of us. Just yesterday I was driving home from work, and a person (driving the opposite way) on a motorcycle passed someone driving a car and was SUDDENLY in MY lane, flipping off the car he just passed. I had to slow to allow him to complete his pass. HAD I NOT been vigilant and observant, I could be HER. I'm sorry their son/brother/step brother is gone but NO ONE can beat her up more than she does herself. Rest in Peace Landon. Prayers that both familes can heal and move on.

As a retired RN, I wish I had a magic wand to put ppl back together again. Your risk of death is substantially greater when driving a motorcycle or ATV.

This pain, loss of your child I know all too well, my youngest son Samuel 28yrs old, US Army Veteran died last year May 11, 2024. The white sheet covering his son, is something many of us know all too well, before the autopsy and afterwards at the funeral home. I’m grateful that I was able to see him, talk to him at the funeral home with his nana. No matter how they pass, they’re gone. It’s unreal, still not real at times. I as a mother, feel every word, every emotion, every tear. The comfort, if you can call it that way, is knowing you now know where they always are, you know they’re in the arms of God, being greeted by and being with our family members who passed before and is waiting for us. This pain, hole, grief, and our sorrow never goes away, we just learn to live with it. Hug your family, friends, those whom you hold dear.

My husband wouldn't try a motorcycle and both my kids age 14 age 8 have been told "no motorbikes" I don't care if they're 30 and sensible, I've already lost a grandfather and a neighbour in a motorcycle accident. May the road rise to meet this young man and I hope his family find strength to carry on happily in life, in time.❤

My heart goes out to the family. I know they are feeling like this sentence is unfair and I feel that too. I also know what it's like to lose a son. Although my son did not pass from an accident, he passed from Kidney disease. He was 39 years old and left an extraordinary legacy. He was a dancer choreographer. He has been on Broadway and travelled the world performing. He even toured with Lady Kier from the group DeLite. My son was my only child. Losing him was like losing a part of my heart. He taught dance to students at the performing arts school here in NJ and the students all came to his service. In fact Lady Kier attended and a host of performers, actors, and close friends came. It was overwhelming. Like his mother, I started having panic attacks anxiety and depression. He's been gone now since Sept. 8th 2017, exactly a month before his 40th birthday, Oct. 8th. It's still surreal to me, we were so close. I will continue to pray for this family who raised an phenomenal son.

This is second sentencing like this I have seen in less than a week. There was another in Judge Simpsons court - the driver said he didn’t know what happened-just zoned out for a second and hit and killed someone. No drugs or alcohol in his system-so very sad.

In 2008 when gas prices were through the roof, I decided it would be a good idea to ride a motorcycle to work. I live in metro Atlanta where drivers are nuts so I stayed off the highways and always took the surface streets to and from work. Well, leaving work one day, I took a left turn too fast and the bike locked up halfway into the turn. I was later told this is not uncommon for 250cc motorcycles. I ended up hitting the concrete curb to a grassy median and flying head first over the handle bars. Luckily, my full face helmet prevented the handle bar from popping me in the throat. I ended up with a popped ACL and few bruises. Needless to say, that was the end of my motorcycle riding days. When God throws a hint, you best listen.

I had to stop this. A year ago this past weekend we lost my niece's partner in a car/ dirtbike accident. She didn't look backing out of her driveway. Burying that boy has been one of the most horrific things I have seen and been through. My baby girl will never be the same and has lost her light with her future. Always double check for bikes.

Motorcycles are sadly the least protected and at times the most easily unseen vehicle & sadly unlike a car they come out second best in most accidents. Tragedy for All! May they find peace through forgiveness, harboring hate for another person is a prison sentence in itself!

Oh, man, motorcycles. My mentor loved to ride them. She got flipped over the handlebars trying to push the front wheel out of a hole in a dirt road while still on the cycle (!). Somehow her knees got injured and never completely healed. A boy in my high school class missed a year of school when he was thrown from a motorcycle. We were told that he landed on a rock head first and his helmet was cracked open like an egg. He spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair.

I was 20 when I got into my motorcycle accident. I was in the Army and stationed in Houston. I was leaving work for a 3 Day weekend, I changed out of my uniform into some shorts. I wasn't going to wear my helmet because it was so damn hot outside, but something told me to wear it, so I did. A lady ran a red light. I hit her windshield and it threw me back into the road, where her front tire tried to run over my head. It left tire marks on my helmet and stripped off the paint and fiberglass on the back of the helmet. I woke up when one of the Paramedics asked, "Is he dead" I said, Hell No! I wound up with a Broken arm, Broken leg, Couple of Broken Ribs, Bunch of road rash. And started to date a Doctor. All in all it evened out. To this day I still have a motorcycle endorsement on my TDL which drives my wife nuts.

Usually victims’ statements are read after sentencing I thought…well in a way this is sort of the same thing because the decision had already been made. I think the judge made the right call.
