Obviously the best of all worlds, you set up ring of steps plus platform and every variable is taken care of.

close to doubles the weight though, having said that, i plan on adding 1 bullman step to my pioneer platform this year at roughly 9 o clock there's so many options that it is easy to try a bunch of stuff and if you don't have buddies near by, it ends up costing you some cash i've got 3 platforms and i'm going to experiment with a ring of steps this year maybe (but I'll use a lighter, non folding polymer step and an OCB (over center buckle) which gets much tighter than a regular pull strap) the holy grail for me is a larger and light platform, which won't come about until some new materials are used and those platforms will not be cheap

How stable are the steps...meaning, how likely are they to collapse due to a little side pressure?

OK, you sold me. I've been going round and round with different platform possibilities, but there are limits to what a platform allows. Although, I believe there is still a place for platforms, the steps allow lightweight mobility. Thanks for posting.

I do still use both as well. I posted a video a couple weeks ago on a ring of steps. Doing a giveaway in that video too!

Nice demo. I’m getting those steps. They have no ratchet strap and looked sturdy when you were on them.

I went with bullman ros. I see no reason to use a platform. I’m a sitter so I’m fine with the ros

@@RedlineOutdoors yea I had watched it and enjoy your content. For me cutting down on weight is a must. Hunting some public land close to wear I grew up. Them 3-4 mile hikes were rough with a climber

Do these steps kick out at all or twist when side loaded? Seems like there is little surface area on the body that sits against the tree.

A tad yes mainly when directly on the sides of tree.
