This is fantastic. She's not the frontiest horse ever, but I love her suspension and her lightness of moving. Her consistency is amazing: So steady. I wish I could remember what year she won the World Championship gaited stake.

Only thing wrong with this video is if you were actually looking for this mare, her registered named is Daneshall's Easter Parade.

WGC Starina actually started out as Sultan's Starina. It was shortened part way through her show career....

To Susan Fowler I received an email from you that I was unable to respond to. Hi! The only reason I knew so much about CH My-My is because my mother was ALWAYS a huge lover of American Saddle-breds. Somehow, My-My was somewhere Mom was keeping her grandson of Beau Fortune. Sorry about my memory, I was about 6 or 7 at the time. She said that mare was AWESOME! I'm pretty sure it was 1967 or 1968. It wasn't long after that, the great mare died in 1968. The only problem that she had with her 5-gaited grandson of Beau Fortune was that he was vicious. Even I remember that. One of the most beautiful horses you could ever see, 17.2hh liver chestnut with that signature wavy mane and tail, but as mean as a rattlesnake. Sadly he passed those traits on to his progeny and after almost killing my mother several times was gelded.

Thank goodness you got my message after I somehow wiped everything out. I used to get a kick out of listening to the trainers argue who the mare should be bred with. I thought the answer was obvious, Glen Groves Lord Vanity sired by Vanity's Sensation. Lordy was a champion fine harness who carried all of the best characteristics of his sire. In addition to having a big, bold, open trot, he had a sweet disposition and the eleganza factor. That blood line was known for gorgeous heads and necks. I believe he retired to the stud barn at five. My My was a dynamic athlete but could be a bit nasty outside the ring and was a bit coarse in the head and neck. It was a real disappointment when she died so young. Stay warm. Southern KY is getting slammed right now.

Pretty sure that My-My having a nasty attitude was because of her sire, Beau Fortune. He was one of the meanest Saddle-breds that I had ever heard of AFTER my mother bought a Beau Fortune GRANDSON. He was so mean, yet my mother did breed him & found out that yep he passed that vicious disposition to the foals we got from Fortune's Portrait, the grandson. He got so bad we HAD to geld him and his most beautiful son(chestnut, gorgeous conformation, 4 high whites & big blaze & mean as a rattler). So I was thinking of breeding my 1/2Arab, 1/2 American Saddle-bred to a nice local Saddle-bred stallion, when I saw he was a Beau Fortune grandson, I very quickly passed. So sad because Beau Fortune really made beautiful progeny but they were all that I met anyway, mean.

I absolutely love rackin! sooo fun. Isn't the rack technically a stepping pace? Does anyone know?

Very interesting. I love her movement at the trot and rack, but she looks so strung out by modern standards. That headset would probably not impress at the WCHS these days. She did have a very nice canter and her walk was exceptional. No one has a good walk these days.

They showed them like that in the 60s and 70s and early 80s. I had Arabians at Elton Cates Stables, but started with a Saddlebred. I like to see three gaited horses look collected. I think some of the five-gaited horses look a little better strung out. The horses looked less gimmicky in the old days.
