This video was done in Chapter 11 shortly after reaching the Archylte Steppe, but the strategy will also work on the forced battle in Chapter 12. Fang needs to know Daze and Hope should know Faith. If Fang also knows Deshell and you have at least a few hundred more HP, you may be able to use the faster strategy here: • How to Kill Adamanchel...
If Vanille or Hope are attacking, delay your attacks slightly. You want to constantly reapply Daze during their attacks, and make certain that a Daze hits after their attacks finish.
Adamanchelid will sometimes open a battle with 4 rapid stomps. If he does this, and if Daze fails to stick on the first round, you will die at these stats. If this happens, retry. At higher stats, execute a partial string of 2 Dazes as soon as the bar gets that high; 6 Dazes is almost always enough to stick.
If you don't have a Clay Ring-*, a third Black Belt-* is sufficient, especially if you can get Hope closer to 2000 HP. If you have more Clay Rings, use them instead of Black Belts.
A successful Daze will cancel stomp attacks and Bay, but it won't cancel Quake.
Daze lasts for 60 seconds. It is cancelled immediately if any other attack hits the target. An attack on a Dazed target deals double damage. Daze has a minimum duration of about .5 seconds, so spamming Daze alongside other attacks will double the damage of all attacks during that period.
It's helpful to understand some of the mechanics behind Saboteur spells. Each Daze has a 30% base chance of being successful, reduced by Adamanchelid's 50% resistance to Daze. This chance is boosted by x1.2 from Pandoran Spear, by x1.28 by Fang's level 3 Saboteur role, and by the current percentage of the chain gauge. That's a 23% chance that the first Daze you cast is successful. Each unsuccessful casting lowers the target's resistance by 2 percentage points, so if the first Daze fails, the second only has 48% resistance, so it has a success rate of 24% before accounting for the slight boost from the chain increase caused by the first Daze.
Once Daze sticks, Adamanchelid's resistance to Daze increases by 1 point per second.
This is why I cast what might look like "extra" strings of Daze. I am simultaneously reducing Adamanchelid's resistance and increasing the chain gauge, making it more and more likely that later castings of Daze will be successful. By the time I have Adamanchelid staggered, I have a 100% success rate on Daze.
