As I said , I did enjoy reviews from the show, however it's great to have Ben back doing reviews. I won't buy another rod without a Ben review !!

I picked up the method in a 8wt and love it! This rod looks absolutely legit for wind and big flys... I was terrible at casting the sage bolt after only casting light trout rods ... go to the park on windy day a few times and problem solved ... love the reviews ... ! I think the igniter works awesome at picking up line and casting to calico bass or stripers out of a boat for sure!

Picked up the igniter 7wt a couple of weeks back.....I have not overlined it and use the Rio gold in 7wt and love the rod.....it really is powerful and will keep me on the water during the windy winter season....love it

I had the 5wt method a couple of years back.....even in 7wt I would say the igniter has slightly more feel than the method

I bought the Igniter 697-4 it was so stiff I could barely get it to load, I even went up to a RIO Grand WF7F and it loaded but felt more like a 7 wt rod, not really sure what this EX FAST rod is for, I mainly fish Smallmouth and Steelhead, young the TFO Pro III 9' #6 and Love it, Loads and casts well.

The Sage Method should be the better option for me, as far as still available right now. Otherwise I shall wait for the next replacement to come from Sage. Expecting the prices will rise endless and one day maybe I shall say goodby Sage, having had a nice time... From Germany 🤗

Love the 7wt Igniter. I have to agree with you regarding the Grand Slam. Not great beyond 70 to 80 ft. The Outbound does it better I think. Any suggestions for a great colder water long distance line?

@@Tridentflyfishing Thanks for your reply. I haven’t although it’s been on my list. Not sure which of the series may suit best …it can become an expensive experimental process :)

From my experience with the Method, there is only one way to truely get it "working", and that is either a slight overloaded shooting head setup with short clump or a wf with +1 weight. With a Arctic Silver MD line, I can shoot the entire WF line quite easily, and with only 1½ year fly fishing, I still consider my self a novice... It reaches insane distance the method, and I expect this rod will too - you should have brought different line types and cast it, such a technical piece deserves to be matched, because the faster the rod, the more important the line match becomes!

Great video as always Ben. Would love to see a comparisson between the new Igniter and the older Method. LOve to know if a Sage Method would be a good buy with the discounts they have now ?

From what I hear, method is still the way to go - unless you really can't stand the red blank. I never really notice the color of mine to be honest...

Thank you Nikolaj K for an owners impressions. Don`t think a trout will notice the blanks colour !

Not many will get close to exploiting the full potential of either rod. Heavily discounted, I would go Method but I know that I will always be wondering how good the Igniter is. I can tell you, it’s that good.

Loved Igniter for 10 months. Tippet guide, along with 2 others degraded to the point that I had fly line cut in half. Same time span later tippet guide looks like a hacksaw has been at it. Got rods at 20% of the price that function perfectly. Regret this purchase.

Definitely not the choice for pyramid lake. Too many small fish and this rod will definitely break off the light tippet.

I have a #5 and a #8 Igniter plus many other rods. I don't consider the Sage Igniter a broomstick at all. It's a little more forgiving than the Method and the timing doesn't have to be as exact. Even so, you really need to spend some time with an Igniter to get to know it's idiosyncrasies. For a floating line, if you're not an advanced to expert caster you'll be better off using a longer belly line such as the SA Amplitude Anadro.
