When I was still in high school, Happy Feet just came out and I love animation. So did some of my friends. So we picked a day and decided to all go see it.What was supposed to be three good friends going to see a movie about a tap dancing penguin turned into six because we were all supposed to take our younger brothers, who weren't that much younger than us. So, picture if you will, six dudes all in high school strutting up to the ticket counter looking like the breakfast club after a hash session. We get up to the counter and without any irony I go, "Six for Happy Feet please." That young lady couldn't stifle a laugh if she tried.

It's movies like this that make me feel a LOT better about the amateur writing that I do in my spare time. Even if I never get published or have my work made into a movie, I know that being "good" has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not either of those things happen. Would make it a lot easier to laugh all the way to the bank, though.

As someone who has waded through the hilarious shitpile that is Twilight, 50 Shades of Grey and the original fanfiction Master of the Universe that it was copy/pasted from are indeed Twilight. Now, whether the idea was to do Twilight in the form of Secretary, then that can be argued and I'd agree that it might be that, but saying it had nothing to do with Twilight is quite false. The roommate is Rosalie, the guy that Anastasia doesn't want anything to do with is Jacob, and Grey is Edward Cullen..... The difference is that she took all of what might have made any of these people somewhat decent as human beings and then stripped them of that. Not only is Grey creepy, but he's fucking creepy. Dude went after Anastasia because she reminded him of his mother and he hates his mother so he abuses her and fucks her to get his mommy issues out. He's a creepy stalker and would be serial killer/rapist, whereas Edward Cullen actually wasn't as bad as him and even somewhat decent as a person.

Shitty acting, shitty plot, shitty actors, shitty setting, shitting dialogue, shitty script, shitty everything. Obviously the sex isn't as rated as it is in the book because it's a theater movie. Would probably be better if it was just made into a porno and not a Hollywood movie that was trying to be taken seriously.

I've been told that in good BDSM, the sub is actually in control, because care and consent ensures they're not doing anything they don't agree to, and the begging is one of the main parts of the thrill for the dom. However, if that's what they were trying to get across in this story, they missed Grey's attitude, which had no strength behind it, and therefore no illusion of dominance, and they missed the part about consent - in the book at least, I've never seen the movie.

I think the film might have been better had Tim Roth been cast as Christian Grey and Saoirse Ronan had been cast as Anastasia Steele. And is was set in London. And they were allowed to tell E L James to get to fuck and rewrite the entire dialogue. Heck, in fact David Beckham would have made a better Christian Grey, with David Beckham's acting and David Beckham's voice and David Beckham's visible fear of Victoria Beckham jealousy writ large in every single frame.

This film could have worked if it was a completely different film. Believe me, I've been in your position. The core problems are beyond any convenient fix. The source material is Satanically bad, and no amount of casting, directing, rewriting and acting can fix a fundamentally broken script.

9 жыл бұрын
CHRIS CONLEY "The only think really very bad is the awful stupid comments on this KZitem video that are mainly just butthurt over a soft smut movie that they didn't like and obviously people did. Judging by that box office." It's almost as bad as posting butthurt comments at people for not liking something you do like very much, judging by how keen you seem to be to defend the film. "Though you might also try to disprove that because you need approval and proof of your opinion being the right one." You first. You seem to be putting a lot of effort in it.
@GeoNeilUK
9 жыл бұрын
CHRIS CONLEY "Did I ever say I liked the movie?" Can't think of any other reason why you'd be so keen to defend the film. "And my comments are more in a tone of utter glee at the *stupidity* of these *stupid* critics." Stupid is as stupid does, like the stupidity of stupid people overusing the word stupid while stupidily describing the stupidity of people who are so stupidly stupid in their stupidity to disagree with you. "I don't need approval of my opinions." Yes, you do, you wouldn't be sharing them otherwise. "I know they're just my opinion." And are therefore unimportant, not that that will stop you sharing these opinions that you totally don't want validated. "I do defend it because honestly the people who come up with these type of comments are just dweebs seeking to piss down a movie they probably haven't even seen just to be KOOL." Couldn't possibly be their honest opinion, could it? You defend work that you believe is *GOOD* you defend work that you *LIKE.* So, if you really want to be a tr00 rebel and stand out on your own and show us just how much of an independent mind and totally not one of the sheeple you are, tell us: How is Fifty Shades of Grey *GOOD*? What did you *LIKE* about it? "And we really don't need to listen to a fat clod who ruins anime every time on his crap ass show." So the reason why you're defending this film (that even *YOU* say you never said you liked because, hey, you've got to be one of the KOOL kids too!) is because Sage has caused excruciating pain to your delicate bottom. "I laugh long and hard at you calling it satanically bad or anything" I don't see you laughing long and hard at anything, I see you *RRRRRRRRAAAAAAGGGGGING* "it's just a smutty romance movie, so it made it big to a movie, so what?" You type as if you're putting way much effort into this argument than it's actually worth, yet still you keep coming back and posting. "It'll make it's bank and you can just ignore it like a good little shit." So to disagree with you in your assessment of this film that you are putting a massive amount of effort into defending, is to be a little shit? Cool. "And stop being so over the top about your hating of it." But you being so over the top in your defence of the film (or is your hatred of Sage?) is all fine and dandy? Cool.
@EricLeafericson
9 жыл бұрын
CHRIS CONLEY No, I agree that this is just a smut movie. I remember watching it hoping it would be as hilariously bad as Breaking Dawn 2, and found that it was just boring. Look, the directors and actors did everything they could to polish this turd. The girl who played Anastasia especially works hard to turn an infantile character into someone halfway charming. She doesn't SUCCEED, but that's not the actress's fault. God, the book to this is SO much worse than the movie. They spend like 7 pages describing what the protagonist LOOKS like. That should take a page at best, with some details sprinkled into the story. There's not much plot. It's about as complicated as "pizza man comes over to pretty girl's house, and they bang." So yeah, we pretty much agree that the movie's just mediocre. But this is the Internet, so we have to verbally beat the shit out of each other, right ;) Jesus, it was just one badly chosen word. Can we talk about the movie again?

Secretary is a very good movie however not all bdsm relationships are micro managed like that. Another good movie is The Pet but it takes a very dark turn in the end. I haven't seen the 50 shades movie and I don't plan to but my wife and I read the book(well I only read the first and she read all 3) and I hated it. It paints kinksters in the worst possible light. Its frustrating to read and I can't imagine having to sit through a visual representation. The author at one point openly admits to knowing nothing about BDSM and basing the character of Christian Grey and all the kinky stuff on a psychological study of a person who identified as a Dom. In the lifestyle it is not uncommon for a Dom to start out as or at some point take on a sub role to experience it. I am apart of the lifestyle and 99% of my local community hate this movie for how it portrays us and how its ultimately the general public's first impression of bdsm and how if they don't do any research a lot of people will end up getting hurt (physically and emotionally) trying to live the book.

Lord Zandig Essentially, its not hard to understand, just look at overly religious people or overly conservative people. It has nothing to do with fear, not exactly, I am not saying there are not people who are not afraid of sexual content or acts, but there are also people who will not watch or look at it due to their personal morals and such. There are also a lot of people who will avoid porn due to having family, or simply people who are repressed but do not look at porn. Those people buy these kinds of books.
