Testing one ultrasonic anti-fouling device may be more telling than two. If it’s fewer than ideal for your hull size, a difference in fouling depending on proximity to the device would indicate that it’s doing something.

I installed hull shield on a customer's boat that I also dive to clean and wow it has cut an hour off of my usual time it takes to clean it. He uses copper coat and after just 4 years it is way overdue for new anti-fouling. He has 4 on his 35' catamaran. One at halfway point of each pontoon and one on each gear case. He could benefit from at least two more at the bow but I am blown away and trying to become a dealer/installer. I haven't heard much on its impact on other marine life but as far as soft/hard growth I'm all in. Get it!

I love watching Barry. He is Sam's alter ego. Barry is like the Maxwell Smart or Inspector gadget of sailing...nothing ever works (even after refitting his boat for 2 years in NZ) and he can't sail upwind (I can't get there from here) but he is such a likable guy sailing solo to some really cool destinations around the world like Sam. On the other hand, Sam is like MacGyver, making stuff work that shouldn't work and always has a positive attitude.

When I was a kid in the 70s, we were living in a beach house in NJ. Middle of night my dad noticed a sailboat just about to wash ashore. Being a sailor, he jumped into action, grabbed his air horn and started blowing. Woke up the couple onboard, and the neighbors, and we spent next few hours getting the boat off the shoal, back to sea, through the inlet and eventually anchored safely. They had been doing an Atlantic crossing from Jersey. They were aiming for the southern coast and were shocked to find themselves in New Jersey!

Mont. St. Michel! I remember visiting there and staying there a few nights with my parents and siblings in the 70s. What a special time we had. The chef of the restaurant where we stayed made these mile high fluffy omelettes which were a hit with our family. It was low tide in late June early July so there was nothing but sand bars for miles around.
