Back in her hayday. This boat is presently languishing in an anchorage in La Paz.

She was dismasted on the hard when a another boat fell on her during hurricane Odile in 2014. I sold her for a song to a woman who owned another Flicka up here in Redondo Beach. Any information regarding her current ownership and status is appreciated- I may be in a position to re-acquire restore her to her former glory. Last I heard, she was berthed at Marina De Lapaz. Wfhogan01@Gmail.com Thanks.

@@Hoganoutdoors she's is not berthed but at anchor just outside MDLP. Looks restorable. Some stainless steel work is necessary. Pushpit broken, bent pulpit, bent stantion. Someone stopped and said it was their's, but I don't know who. You could probably buy it back for a song. But then it is in La Paz. Unless you could bring a trailer.

Bummer… but if she still afloat, she’s certainly restorable. Keep me posted if you learn anything else - she’s a good old boat.😊

To help minimize the wind noise in your camera microphone, place a thin piece of camera case liner over the mic area in using duct tape. It works !!!

The microphone noise is most distracting from this very competent skippers maneuvering!.. I've sailed onf this very beautiful "Flicka" sailboat some years ago, and for a 19 foot sailboat, I was very impressed!.. "Pacific Seacraft" designed a real winner with this one!..and, at the marina where I saw it, it most definitely stood out from the other sailboats, in my opinion!.. "A real beauty!"...

She's beautiful, solid as a rock, and seaworthy as a navigation buoy. Nothing broke on our 1000nm trip down the Baja peninsula back in 2012, an that included beating successfully into 35 knot winds for 5 hours, with an average boat speed over 5 knots in the Cervallo channel outside of La Paz. The harder it blows, the more she likes it.

Using Raymarine equipment - an ST 2000 tiller pilot here. I fitted an X-10 for the trip down the Baja peninsula to La Paz, but the ST-2000 usually steered the boat better.

Hey Hogvlog Films, your video gave my first insight into 'how' a solo sailer sails the ship, and what he/she does when sailing. It was incredibly educational and I hope you have more similar videos. Thanks for your post dude!

Hello sailor, I have a question please, I would like to buy a sailboat with an auxiliary engine and settle on it. I plan to cruise across the ocean to the mouth of the Amazon, and then further up the river to the mountains. Time to prepare two years, then I would like to permanently leave Europe. Please can you help me with the preparations? Thank you, good luck jan Petr *

Thanks Maryjane! The wind noise is actually pretty accurate - it was howling that day! Check out some of my other videos where I dub in music over the sailing for a calmer audio side of things.. =)

the line on your harness looks long enough to just leave you hanging on the hull.you would never in a sea with the boat running be able to pull your self back on deck.

Yea - I later switched to a climbing harness and a double tether, one long, one short, and installed a pad eye low in the cockpit to solve that problem. I've sailed thousands of miles since - haven't gone overboard yet. Now days I Also carry a waterproof VHF and a PLB on my person when sailing solo. It's a dangerous sport, and I take my personal safety very seriously.

Thanks for the reply, We have a 25 ft boat, it is made light for trailer use. There is a Dana 24 next to ours for sale, I believe it would be rock solid too as you mentioned the Flicka is . Everyone I know say they sailed more when they had a smaller boat.

Thanks for your point that "everyone you know say they sailed more when they had a smaller boat". I am seriously considering purchasing a Flicka 20, and the point you made conveys great wisdom. I will continue on my path to own a Flicka 20. It's small, easy to maneuver, a blue water boat, affordable--AND it can cross oceans. Then when home, pop the Flicka on a trailer and take it home. What an incredible design!

Love the video, the main sail looks blown out....soft as a bed sheet ?
@wienerwoods

Yup - That sail was definitely blown-out. I replaced it with a new main right before setting sail for the Sea of Cortez, and stowed it as a backup under the V-berth. Great boat the Flicka - Easy to manage in a blow, and rock solid. Never so much a squeak below in rough weather - very different from my current boat, a Catalina 30. The 30 comfortable and spacious, but she's a handful when wind and sea kick up like in the video.
