Thats so odd that the Ironwood tree would not have made it to the mainland somehow. What is in that habitat that isn't anywhere else? Jack was like "That skinny leg dude lookin at us too hard, boss. I better swim over and eat him" :-)

You bring up a very interesting point, Lynn. The Ironwoods we're historically widespread around the west coast of the mainland and found in the fossil record all the way to even Utah. However, over time and climatic changes, the distribution of Lyonothamnus now only occur on the Channel Islands. This is an example of “Relictual Endemism”, or RELICTS of the past that now only occur in that region as an endemic species. I go into more detail in about this in a video I did for Tree of Life Nursery, entitled “ Plants of the Channel Islands” around the 9:21 min mark. kzitem.info/news/bejne/r6BqqXVpraReZKA

Curious how one would tie off on the iron rod on the rock? Good job on the episode! Nothing like a flat calm, bright beauty-day at the island.

Is that an Intex Excursion Pro k1? If so, how do you like it? Durable on landing on those pebbles? I'd have to inflate on a 16 foot cuddy cabin, so might be too big.
