A few days after watching your review, I bought the Sainsmart Genmitsu Jinsoku LC-60A. I had been researching lasers this size for sometime and your review helped me decide. I have been following you for while and I feel like you gave honest opinions. So if it turns out to be a dud, I will forever blame you and when I die I will come by now and again to haunt you! CHEERS

James thank you again. Your videos are always a great help and find informative bits of info that can use on other projects. You mentioned extention leg storage. Had issue with the special corner M5 nuts being miss threaded and Sainsmart sent me 10 replacements. Special M5 t nuts with spring wire to hold nut in track. Took four M5 t nuts and inserted in legs then used the M5-30 bolts that are used to secure legs and screwed bolts through leg mounting holes in front and back rails into nut and worked great for storage of not only legs but the bolts ;-))) Thank you again.

Hey, great video. I just purchased this laser and I'm very happy with it. I'm struggling to find good cutting settings. The two test pieces of wood that were sent struggled to cut through when on 100% power at 10% speed with a few passes. Is there something you did to get those clean cuts?

I realize this video is a couple of years old at this point. Has anyone found a way to snug up the X-axis carriage wheels to the extrusion. I was looking for eccentric nuts, like on all my 3D printers, but it doesn't look like that's designed into this machine, and there's no way to correct the slop. Any help would be appreciated.

Great video. I've had this machine for a few weeks now. I'm currently building an enclosure for it. I think it's one of the best overall packages in a diode engraver right now. I don't like the rectangular laser dot, but at least it's a small dot. I've only done a little testing with my machine so far. Have you noticed any real world negative effects of the rectangular dot?

Even better would be to put the legs on brackets to allow you to just flip them down when you want to raise the machine and then you can fold them flat when not needed.

JD, Great stuff. I have learnt a lot from your Videos. Thank you. I'm having an issue with my laser settings on my 3018 PROVER. I would sure appreciate your expertise if you would. When I turn on the Lazar in LaserGRBL to determine the positioning of my Project to the Lazar, the Lazar turns on to 100% POWER and starts to BURN what ever is in its way. For this STEP I do believe the Lazar should only turn on to VERY LOW POWER so it doesn't burn anything, correct?? Then when it starts to do THE BURN the percentage at that point will be what it is set at, IE..40%, 50%, 60%...........to burn the material. How do I go about RESETTING this stage from 100% POWER to VERY LOW POWER % percentage so I can position my project correctly and not have burn makes on my project before I start the actual burn?

Love the videos...I'm looking to get into laser engraving and have loved all the info I've received from your vids. I was wondering if you could use an iPad or tablet for the programs and a Bluetooth USB adapter in the engraver or if hardwiring it with a computer is the only way. I just enjoy the portability of tablets in a workshop.

@JamesDeanDesigns

Its not really that simple. it can probably cut upto 5 or 6mm but it really depends on the quality of your wood. Softer wood will naturally cut easier than hardwood

Hi James, I'm wondering if you can help with your laser speed settings? It appears in your video that you're able to (As Sainsmart claim these lasers can) cut 3mm in one pass? I've the 3018 Pro with the 3040 extension kit, the 5.5w laser attached and air assist, and i've got the machine to do nice clean cuts at 600mm/min but this takes 5/6 passes and is rarely consistent, sometimes 5, sometimes 6. Is there a recommended speed that can guarantee cutting in one pass?
@JamesDeanDesigns
2 жыл бұрын
To cut in one pass you really have to drop the speeds down to between 150-250 usually. Personally I much prefer to go a fraction faster and do 2 passes so maybe at 250-300 but 2 passes and this gives less overburn. You will get differences, even on the same piece of wood because of the layers, the grain, the glue, the colour etc.

Good information James. Will it engrave wood with fonts with upto 10mm wide and 10mm deep characters ?
@JamesDeanDesigns
2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. When you say 10mm deep do you mean as in length not depth into the wood? So it can engrave really small letters on the surface but it probably will not penetrate 10mm deep into the wood if that makes sense
@rl3898
2 жыл бұрын
@@JamesDeanDesigns Ah, it was the 10mm depth into the wood I was hoping for, as if it had been routered.

James, a couple of years ago, I used your video and Graham Bland's textbook like instructions to tune the settings on my 3018-PRO. I notice that the factory acceleration settings seem to be pretty low compared to what I ended up with on my 3018-PRO and the maximum speed settings for the LC-60A seem to be twice the specified max speed for the unit. Is it likely that a tune up will need to be done to optimize operation on this unit too?
@JamesDeanDesigns
2 жыл бұрын
Yes, most machines default settings are very safe to minimise the risk of anything going wrong so you can certainly tune and get more out of it
@kevinfine1088
2 жыл бұрын
I was leaning that direction and was planning on a tuneup if I couldn’t get something definitive from someone who possibly had tried and found it pretty solid. Since most people won't even think about checking the performance I came here and I appreciate your input. Thank you.
