Excellent video. Growing up in the Caribbean myself, (Trinidad to be exact), we've always been taught in high school to see the liberators of Haiti as heroic figures. I recommend reading "The Black Jacobins" by CLR James. Wonderful work as usual, Jabzy 👍👍👍

You forgot to say that not all whites were massacred/expelled. A large part of the Polish troops switched sides against the French and started fighting for the revolution. In gratitude, Dessalines would later declare them as "black" according to his new constitution and not only allow them to stay but also give them land.

Also after Napoleon did Louisiana Purchase in 1803 Europe took part in Napoleonic Wars first part named after Napoleon 1 Bonaparte they continued fighting kicker is Jacques Dessalines after winning the battle hanged the leftover whites but big change came in 1805 during Battle of Trafalgar when Lord Horatio Nelson onboard HMS Victory with Nelson checkerboard pattern decimated the Spanish French Fleet destroying Saint Anna captured Most Holy Trinity and Bucentaur at the cost of him dying to a sniper onboard Redoutable a french ship once Horatio Nelson died HMS Victory was moved as museum ship in around 1922 where it remained today at Portsmouth, England.

We in Brazil are taught that Brazil lived all the XIX-century fearfull of a similar slave-revolt happening here, politicians referred Haiti as the hell in earth and that the government should do everything to prevent a similar thing from happening in some state as Bahia.
