Great video, really enjoyed this. I love Saito engines. I have a Saito 40 on my Jumper 25 trainer and its sounds great when in the air.

The Saito (and OS) four-cycles are wonderful engines. I've found that the two best ways to prime one for starting is to either place my finger over the carb intake, or over the exhaust outlet, and pull the prop through a couple of turns before connecting the battery. If the engine kicks back (most four-cycles do) when hand-propping, try flipping the prop backwards. Also, condition and type of glow plug means everything to a four-cycle. If the engine won't idle when the battery is disconnected, try a different plug, the OS "F" plug being a good one. Primary vibration will be higher with these engines, so a sturdy mount is a must.

Nah mate, how it works is they run on a 2 stroke mix that you get from the hobby shop, when the fuel gets sucked into the engine most of it goes to the combustion chamber, but some of the fuel goes through a small pipe inside the engine that squirts it on the rockers and down the push rod pipes to lube the cam shaft. So think of it like a dry sump system. :)

I did a test with another engine and it didn't vibrate as much, that's why I added some more screws to the bench, but it wont do any damage. :)

Great video. Thanks for posting. I've got two ASP 52 Four stokes. Neither of them will idle anywhere lower than half throttle. Must be something I'm doing wrong. Does saito 40 fit into a standard size mount. I've got one of those metal ones with the clamp down plate thingys. I don't want to change the mount as it's stuck in the plane! Nice video. Really helpful.

would you be able to attach this to a drive shaft for an RC car?

I have seen videos of people who have managed to get a 4 stroke engine to work on an rc car, however I believe there's a lot of modification required.

What is your opinion of the Laser Engines ? Are they easier to start ?

Nah mate, this is an ordinary piston engine. O.S. engines do make a wankle rotary engine. It sounds awesome. :)
