I recommend going to their concert when you're in japan it's quite lively and can’t help dancing. ichiro yamaguchi、the vocalist is particular about soundsystem. it's so laud and voluminous、but comfortable
The Drifters were initially a band that performed comedy with music on stage. But as the transition from the stage to the TV era took place, they established themselves as TV comedy stars.

I love this MV! and thank you for your nice reaction. Sakanaction is very very cool. I like their MV "アルクアラウンド" that is interesting so you maybe like it ♪ (アルク(歩く)=walking、アラウンド=around)
The inspiration for the Sakanaction music video came from The Drifters. They were the frontrunners when The Beatles came to Japan.

After I recommended Sakanaction's "Shin Takarajima" to Mr. Patrick, I never thought that you would like it so much that it would react as video content over and over again. A nice surprise for me! Of course, "Shin Takarajima" is my favorite too. When I requested you, I had a strong desire to support Mr. Yamaguchi, who is working hard even in the corona pandemic. Personally, many of Sakanaction's songs make me feel like a dejabu. I should have heard it for the first time, but I feel like I've heard it before that. That my feeling is not unpleasant, it is very comfortable. In particular, the MV for "Shin Takarajima" may make me feel that way even more because it is a homage to a nostalgic comedy program. "The Drifters", which you always pay attention to, have been active since 1956. They have turned into individual entertainment activities, but since they have not officially disbanded, they have 66 years of activity as a group. In the early days of The Drifters, it was a music band, and each member played and sang an instrument. In 1966, The Beatles performed their first performance in Japan at Nippon Budokan / 日本武道館*. (* The concert at Nippon Budokan is a longing for many artists. Recently, King Gnu and Mr. Kaze Fujii etc are also performing concerts.) The opening of the Beatles concert was a performance by The Drifters. At that time, rock’n roll and rockabilly booms were popular in Japan, and many bands playing such songs were born. After that, The Drifters devoted themselves to comedy rather than band activities, and provided still legendary TV shows all over Japan. Their gag was a bit vulgar, but the kids loved them and were crazy about them. As a result, many complaints were received from educational organizations and PTAs regarding The Drifters TV programs, which became a social problem. The Drifters were really incredibly popular. Sadly, half of The Drifters members are now dead. There is one of the members, Mr. Boo Takagi / 高木ブーさん. Mr. Takagi, a member of The Drifters, is the only person who has continued his musical activities. Currently, Mr. Takagi is 89 years old, but he is still fine. He plays the ukulele and sings Hawaiian music. There are many rich and very gentle songs that are typical of Mr. Takagi, and listening to them makes me feel like I'm surrounded by the Hawaiian atmosphere. I hope Mr. Takagi will be fine and listen to wonderful songs. I want him to continue forever ... PS : By the way, Mr. Takagi started playing the ukulele at the age of 15, so he has been playing for 74 years. The record is still growing. Wow Wow Wow!
I really love your smiles. Thanks for the happy feelings.

This music video is a homage to a comedy TV show that was very popular in Japan in the 70's. It was nonsense and crazy, and it was so popular that PTA put it at the top of the "programs I don't want to show to children." lol The scene where the stage rotates at the climax and they reappear is also a familiar scene to Japanese people. It's really cool to do funny things with a serious face, isn't it?
