I’m a 16 yr old afakasi my dad is a matai, he serves for our village Falelatai. I’m an only child and always wanted to be like my dad, I’ve always dreamed about being a matai just like my father and papa since i was 4. I loved the feeling being around my family, help and serve them and to do what’s best for everyone. This has truly inspired me thank you so much for this! :)

@@thehulajourney hi i love this video, very informative. Tu'u'u Kalala is my Aganu'u Samoa mentor, she is amazing. I'm still in the process of learning about the culture and traditions. My mother is from Falelatai, i was bestowed 2 ali'i titles from her family from the Aiga Tauaana. My father is a direct descendant of a grandson of Salamasina named Matautia (the first one in Sataua, Savai'i), which is about 12 generations of Matautia males down to me. Samoan oratory is pure Art, i love it and the culture as a whole. Thank you for this video, it's so awesome.

This is a very low percentage of women that actually can do this type of position. Knowledge of the culture. Samoan culture, the how's, when's, why's, who's, your walk. Clothes, More to it but just basics Knowledge of language, language in specific orders. You don't speak the language E, F, G and then speak A, B, C, D, this culture speaks in language of order. Knowledge of Biblical theology. The understanding of Biblical principal and how it applies in every day life. Knowledge of speech. Be charismatic in your speech. Speak correctly and clearly. Be confident in yourself. Knowledge of leadership. Natural born leaders are leaders who are born to lead. You can train women to become leaders but doesn't mean they will be great at it. Question, from my understanding Nafanua was the ancestress of Salamasina & she had lived long before Her time (which was estimated to be 1500’s) so I always wonder what do people mean when they say Nafanua Bestowed these titles on to Salamasina. Are they saying the goddess herself was still around? We’re they speaking to her spirit? Or was this A Woman with the chief title of Nafanua that had bestowed these titles on salamasina.
@thehulajourney
Жыл бұрын
I believe that Nafanua was around 1500s but she does tend to pop up through the ages.
@Sa.letiii
Жыл бұрын
@@thehulajourney So obviously this isn’t true because Nafanua would’ve been over 200 years old lol, I recently done research on the ancestry of These families and Nafanua was estimated to have been born in the 13th century. So most likely when they speak of Her in the story of Salamasina, they are talking about Her spirit speaking through someone else’s body or a Woman with the Title of Nafanua. Very interesting stuff!
