Dived on her twice, 1993 and 1994. The reef is Shaab Sheer. Reef About 3 mts at low tide. Wreck at sea bed 32 mts. Still leaking oil then, Radome intact bows wide open, thrusters clear, prams, tv's carpets littered the area. Through porthole crockery visible with a red rose pattern. Bridge windows smashed, inside bridge relatively intact, bell GONE!. Doors open freely but, sad to say human bones deterred us further. A year later the trophy hunters had had there fill. Wreck, (a tomb) was plundered. Radome cover on sea bed inside gutted for souvenirs as had the bridge, oh and the crockery also gone. Locals tell of the captain knowing the risk too a short route over Shaab to save time in bad weather. So sad 'fellow?' divers have to desecrate the dead. Take away memories leave what is not yours.

@@ghadaanwar6225 - yes, there’s still unrecovered bodies on her as well as well preserved artifacts, luggage, pushchairs, etc. Along with sunken lifeboats scattered around. It’s also a relatively new wreck at about 30 years, an avoidable accident with massive loss of life is quite sad indeed. If you check out 9mins onward on this video you can see all the luggage

At one stage ww2 shipwrecks were plundered for their metal mainly because of low no radiation has effected the steel or other metals but didnt stop scrapmetal scavengers from tearing these ships part which evidence contained the remains of sailors
@J.R.in_WV
2 жыл бұрын
I think you’re mixing a few stories. The main source of low background radiation steel (cast before any nuclear blasts) was the sunken German naval fleet from World War 1, and there were no dead sailors in those ships, they were scuttled…which means sunk deliberately…by the German naval high command to keep the Allies from getting their hands on them. Basically a final act of spite.

What a truly horrific ending for the victims, trapped in a fast flooding, capsizing ferry, unable to escape to safety before the vessel sinks! What recklessly negligent judgment on the part of the bridge crew to strike a reef, and with such catastrophic force that the vessel sinks within minutes! The salvage recovery of this wreck would have been one of the easiest to have ever been undertaken due to the remarkably shallow depth at which she lays. The removal of victims could have been carried out whilst the wreck was out of the water, as happened with Sewol.
