At last! (Jeremy here BTW). Good review dude! I think the picture quality is pretty poor but I'll let that go :) BTW there were no cut scenes featuring Barlow. Hoope cleared that rumour up years before his death.

Thanks man!! I really enjoyed watching this one again, and my wife absolutely loved it. That's good to know that Barlow didn't have any scenes trimmed...man what an iconic vampire. I thought the picture quailty was solid myself...but this thing is just crying out for a fancy special edition. I want all the different cuts, interviews, trailers, promos, all that stuff! This mini series definitely deserves it.

Great review. I love this movie. I think I bought the Blu-ray just a few years ago. Loved it right away. I like the slower pacing and was never bored. The characters are great. I'm sorry to say that I just couldn't get into Return to Salem's Lot. It wasn't bad but I just found it very uninteresting.

Thank you!! I was so impressed with this one. I know there's a remake from the early 2000s and a new remake coming this year ( I think)...but I don't know how they can even come close to this. I saw Return to Salem's Lot years ago and remember enjoying it. But definitely not on the same level as the first one. Thank you so much for watching!

Speaking of Nosferatu, I can recommend Shadow of The Vampire (2000), a meta horror movie about the shoot of the original silent version of Nosferatu.

This creeped me out badly at the time. I was 19 too when it was first shown in the UK in 1981 so old enough to know better 😂 I think the lack of Barlow was a good thing, in the same way that a lack of Bruce the shark in Jaws was a good thing. His bad aura was enough to put the wind up people. One of the spookiest scenes I thought was when the two guys picked up Barlow’s crate to drive back to the house. The temperature in their cab dropped and the crate moved 😱. Terrifying. As good as I think the film is, imo the book is even better. Its the only book Ive read where I had to sleep with the light on.

Thank you for watching! It really is a classic. And I think you are right about Barlow. The more I think about it, the more I like the fact that he was used so sparingly. He really is terrifying. And yes, I loved the scene with the movers too! I am kind of curious about the novel. I will have to check it out. Thanks again for watching and commenting. I really appreciate it!

@@RetroAnalogEntertainment yes, sometimes less is more, I think. I really recommend the book. Its very early King so he’s still feeling his way around and working on developing his style. But its my favourite of his early run of books. He builds up the Salems Lot community really well and as the film adaptation stayed very true to the book you’ll recognise all the characters and a lot of the scenes. If you do read it, I hope you enjoy it 👍🏻

Fantastic vampire movie, real sense of dread and horror. No jump scares, but really atmospheric. A bit dated now, but definitely one of the best horror films. 70s TV and movies were darker than you may think, as heavier censoring started in the late 70s in the UK. Great review 🙃

@@RetroAnalogEntertainmentEditing this as a film without the obvious episode cuts would have made it so much better. I don't hold much hope for the remake, in today's blinkered society. But at least they've decided to bring a horror film out in September now rather than May 🙃

@@RetroAnalogEntertainment Yes. According to Google Geoffrey Lewis played Mark in Salem's Lot. In it there is a funeral a child that's died and he has the task of burying the coffin. He senses something is wrong, opens the coffin to find the child getting up and biting Mark on the neck. I had chills when I first saw this scene. Stephen King knows how to write horror.
