Do these "filmmakers" even read books anymore? Did they even read King's novel? WTF?

By sheer coincidence I've just finished a re-read of the book. Think I'll pass on this for the time being, though I already intended to watch the two mini-series adaptations again.

The '79 version still holds up. Didnt see the need for a remake unless they were going to make a stellar version

It felt like a made-for-tv movie to me, so I was surprised to find that it was originally going to have a theatrical release.

I just watched the original Salems Lot about a month ago. Really good movie even though it has a slow buildup. I was watching the TV series FROM recently and was enjoying the story, but the overuse of the F bomb and alternative lifestyle pandering ruined what was an interesting horror series.

No such thing as alternative lifestyle pandering. Only alternative lifestyles. To some, your lifestyle is considered alternate too.

@@77CreationAs a Christian, the Bible teaches the only acceptable lifestyle in the eyes of God is hetero. Anything other than that is alternative, sin and unacceptable. Forcing that into a show is pandering. My lifestyle isn't alternative. It's God designed and the only acceptable lifestyle there is. I pray that all people will see the truth and turn to God who is willing and waiting to forgive and help all who seek Him.

I felt the makers were influenced by Black mass, which was miles better and felt like a King Story, but had hours of build up and character development and then there was this, very very poor, a massive let down.

watched it last night. it was ok. I thought it just was meh......they really could've done so much more. the 'sacrifice scene' in the beginning was very heart pounding and well done but the rest of the film kinda was lackluster. the original 1979 film series was EERIE.....the book was a good read too. Susan's character/transformation needed more......the hero kid thing was a bit cheesy. they botched the window scene! They didn't even explore how they strike out on their own and run from the vampires.

I read Salem's Lot about a month or two ago, but honestly, I didn't really enjoy it. The pacing felt off to me, and the gradual build-up of fear surrounding the vampire seemed abrupt, like I had skipped some key moments. It felt like the town’s fear of the vampire came out of nowhere. The way the vampire's presence was revealed felt disjointed, as if the story took leaps without enough tension-building to make those jumps feel natural. The Priest in the book, or the cross thing, I think did require some faith in order for the cross to work. I don't think you could just pick it up and magic would happen, I think in the book there had to be a belief behind it.

This movie sucks bad(2024 version), nonsensical, and it feels like portions of the movie is missing(Marsten House is barely mentioned or shown....hell it had nothing to do with the plot seriously). It is not even worth pyrating and if you must just VPN and sail away but please give not even a wooden nickel to this total train wreck. This is a waste of time that could be used on watching the O.G or hell even the 2004 version with Sutherland and Hauer is VASTLY superior to this and I am a terrible movie fan!
