Great video as always, Patrick! Another key tip I'd add is, at the end of the interview when the recruiter gives the candidate the floor to ask questions - make sure close out by asking if there's anything else they unsure about in terms of your qualification/skills that might prevent you from moving forward. In case, there as critical item you failed to touch on or a key skill you forgot to demonstrate, the recruiter might guide you towards it and you'll have a chance to change their mind! This is critical step for interviews for any position but especially important for sales people as it demonstrates your ability to identify possible objections and handle them (while also giving you more "screen-time" to impress the interviewer). :)

this is all 100% true. I got into sales bc i saw potential in it as a career (every business needs someone to sell their products/services), had MAD social awkwardness & anxiety but the attitude of being open to learning is what get me hired in some shitty and great companies that taught me a lot and gave great experience. Hope this helps someone out there that needs the extra umph to get into sales (Defs build another skill on top to be more desirable-eg. Coding or UX Design to be a BDM in design/creative companies or SaaS companies.)

Sounds cool , its good to get better at selling yourself, but if they were better interviewers they would have been digging to sense this potential in you instead of rejecting you. My point is you were the same person with the same growth potential, all along (before and after), you just learned to broadcast what the interviewers (who should have been doing their job better) were looking for...

Thanks for your comment. Yes, there are many sales positions that don't require prior experience. So interviewers usually ask questions that will help them see whether you have potential in sales.

What would you say is the best question to ask at the end of the interview? (besides the "is there any reason you think I wouldn't be a good fit" question). Preparing for my interview with Oracle this week! Ur videos have been extremely helpful man, really grateful for ur content.
@patrickdang
3 жыл бұрын
Personally I think the the "is there any reason..." is the best way to go. You can also ask a variation like, "what characteristics do you personally look for in a new sales hire." Then follow up with questions relating to whether or not you fit that description. Wishing you the best of luck with your interview!

Show that you can speak to the specific sorts of prospects that SaaS companies are selling to. That's one of the biggest concerns we screen for when it comes to candidates with no prior SaaS experience.
