After two shootings within 100 yards in Salford, police have appealed for witnesses.
Chief Superintendent Kevin Mulligan is lead investigator in the case.
Police were called to Duchy Road, near Irlams o'th' Height shortly after 10pm last night.
A 27-year old man, who has not been named by police, was found with a gunshot wound to the back of his left leg. Detectives say he was shot as he got out of a friend's car.
The shooting was the second in the area in the past couple of days. On Saturday 16 April a man, named by the Manchester Evening News as 27-year old John Green, suffered two gunshot wounds to his knees.
The polcie refused to be drawn on the connection between the two men, saying they were investigating all lines of enquiry and would not like to speculate.
Witnesses can call police on 0161 856 1772 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
